I've recently asked this question on another forum, but I felt as though I should ask it here as well.

Question(s)
Is there such a thing as a five inch CZ Quicksilver "Double D" search coil and if so... how well does this coil operated when compared to the standard concentric CZ coil?

Thanks in advance,

Hi all, Hope some of you folks can help me out, I recently bought an F2 and in general I am happy with it . As a dry machine and in dry sand it is a coin killer BUT if Itry to detect in wet sand it goes nuts. I have discriminated / notched various items in different combinations and reduced sensitivity as advised by Fisher labs but still no joy. I live in Ireland and have tried this unit on a number of different beaches over many hours, the only result I got by adjusting sensitivity was to reduce chatter but every signal so far has been false...believe me I have dug every one just to be sure. I know this machine has fixed ground balance and is not totally suited to wet work but I did expect some degree of usage after reading the reviews. Hope you can shed some light and ease my frustration,

Disc. setting notch set to allow nickels but when I get a reading in that range its a pulltab and the pulltab setting is notched out. I'n must not understand something. using the 3 tone setting, so I switched to all metals still getting tabs on the nickel ID. and have found a nickel yet. Can't believe there's no nickels anywhere i'm hunting. Let me make it more clear, Disc iron, foil, allow nickels Disc tabs. Also the Iron and foil still give an audio but the numbers are low and the sound is lousy, thought it would be silent like my 1270 " Disc it and you won't hear it. Plus the high tone pings alot with a high number but go to p/point it and no audio response. could the SEN. be to hight and this is in BP mode. SEN is 30. Or could it be the 11 inch coil in trashy area.the ID and nubers don't seem to match, reading 30, 3 inches, confidence all the way and its a tab. Any help, only my third using it so I realize its different from my 1270. on the high pings I look for constant pings but sometimes i'll get 2 or 3 good audio sound and then it will change to a low tone? I like the All metal mode but you have to watch the numbers, the high numbers are dead on the money for the TID and the depth is just about on.

Regarding the fast response ( the manuals state the lag coefficient as being in the milli-second range) of the new FT machines vs the audio response length. Case in point, say you are running zero or low disc allowing the iron responses to come thru, how do they over come the audio response length to enable the users to take advantage of the fast response characteristic? Put another way since the audible responses are much longer time wise than the few milliseconds the unit is capable of reporting, in high trash scenerios are signals buffered and put thru in sequence so we don't miss real target signals or does the software logic 'cherry pick' what is put thru to the user? leaving out signals deemed extraneous.

Admittedly most areas we consider high trash probably allow most if not eveything the detector sees to come thru but on the co-located targets and areas with targets thick enough to 'give machine gun' type audio responses does the difference between the comparatively long audio response length and short lag co-efficient require consideration on an engineers part?
Given the fact the delays were largely related to problems with quality parts from overseas we were wondering if the F75 Limited's now being shipped are individually tested at the factory before shipping. If this is not the case would trying it in our test garden in the backyard (different coins buried at different depths) as per Tom's excellent video reveal any problem parts? We don't want to miss out on something because it may not be up to specifications. Sorry if this is a simple questions but we are new to this hobby. I have a few old mines that I can hunt that a friend got the OK from the owner. These were very active back in the Gold Rush!
I hesitate to ask this question because I have seen on other forums where questions like this get out of hand, But I'll post it anyway and hope for the best.
I am having a hard time deciding between the F75 LTD, or the Spectra V3i, or the E-Trac.
I like the five year guarantee the Fisher has along with it's light weight. It also looks easier to program than the others. The Fisher also seems to have a lot of knowledgable users on forums that are willing to help others learn the detector.
I guess my main concern is if the Fisher can pick up silver as deep as the other two. I have also heard complaints that the Fisher is noisy.
I notice some of you have two or maybe all three of the above detectors. Based on your experience, which one would you recomend.
My main use would be coins and relics, and I have a lot of trashy areas I would like to check out.
Thanks for any help you can give.

F75 LTD question re: Processes & motion A.M. (5 replies)

I've become somewhat confused after reading through the LTD manual and some posts on other forums. They state the "Process Number" settings, such as bP or CL, are 'honored' or used when you switch the detector into motion all-metal, usually in 'less noise, and slower response speed'.

Usually motion all-metal is just that - a completely separate mode independent of other settings. But from what I've read, the LTD utilizes this setting (and possible some others?) when you switch to the all-metal mode.

I admit I'm somewhat new to this machine, but personally, I've not heard much difference when I change the processes and return to motion all-metal. Have any of you noticed a marked difference when switching these modes in motion all-metal? And would the functionality of each mode be identical in either mode?

Lastly, if you're going after very deep targets (which is most of the time), under what conditions would you NOT want to use bP or CL in motion all-metal, and where would you set it - dE or does it matter? TIA.

I have a friend who has a 3 ring minnie buried at 10" in his back yard. It has been there for 21 years. He always uses it to check new machines and I went by there a few weeks back to try a few of my mahines. I didn't carry them all but off what I had with me the V3 and the E-TRAC were to only two machines what stopped me in my tracks and told me to investigate. The F75 LTD would signal it with a poor TID if I stopped, since I knew it was there but if I hadn't known it was there the F would never have stopped me. I am going back to check it with my T2, that is the day it died on me... it is at FT now.

What bothered me the most was that he said that his Omega would hit it really good (he didn't have it at home that day so we couldn't compare). so I started to think something might be off with mine but he called me last week to tell me what the problem was.

He took his back out there, got a good GB and could hit it really good using the 10' coil BUT if he changed sensitivity he would lose it until he tweaked the GB. He said that the GB changed when he changed the Sensitivity and unless the GB was just right the bullet would disappear.... so i'm thinking that maybe we need to be checking the GB often when using the Omega and resetting it everytime we change the sensitivity.

Has anyone else noticed anything like this? I'm glad he has this known target that has been in the ground for so long... otherwise I wouldn't know to check this.

I've seen some pretty interesting comments from Keith and Brad on the GB SE, and am just curious if you've had a chance to play around with it too?

What I find interesting is that FT's trend seems to be focused on building the best relic machines out there....I'd love to see them focus specifically on making the best coin shooter out there...something along the lines of an Omega with boost mode, trigger and a backlight... the O8 is definitely hotter on silver then my F75 LTD, unfortunately it's not as deep.

I know I'm dreaming.....but still :)
