I think I'll stick to detecting...did I dig that hole or someone else...where did I leave my shovel or did I bring my shovel.confused smiley

LowBoy

TAKE A LITTLE TIME KICKBACK AND WATCH SOME OF MY DETECTING VIDEO'S BELOW ON YouTube

If you don’t dig it, then how are you going to know what you’re missing!
How can you have your pudding if you don’t eat your meat!

Pretty strange products you US guys have on your shelves. Here in the UK, until fairly recent times, "Jif" was synonymous with a yellow cleaning liquid for the kitchen/bathroom, that smelt of lemon/pine. The idea of peanut butter and kitchen cleaner combined is not appealing...
But thanks to some pan-European branding nonsense, it's now renamed Cif (pronounced siff).

LOL.Pimento...

I love me some creamy Jif on Toasted bread and a glass of chocolate milk..

It was your ridiculously-named "Smuckers Goober Jelly" that introduced me to the concept of "peanut butter and jam" many years ago. It's a good combination, but no European equivalent exists, so I just 'make' it on the fly.

Real Jif is still available in far-flung corners:

Ha Ha Pimento ...

Your hooked!!!!...Peanut butter and Jelly sandwiches!!!!Pretty much in my lunch box all through my early school years...EVERYONE EATS THOSE!!!

Peanut butter and honey not too bad eitherwinking smiley..

Funny how what we take as Norm in one area is Obscure or even unknown in other areas..

Even here in the States we have regional differences...Say from North to South..I love My Grits in the Morning and have my whole life ..yet talking to people up North they say how do you eat that stuff...I think I hope yall aren't basing your opinion on the INSTANT variety..!!YUK!!!

We even have differences in the South almost to FEUD status On how we like Our BBQ ..Each state has there own opinion and even some opinions vary inside the States..

No Joke BBQ is very serious business...from sauces and methods of smoking to even how it's presented on the plate Chopped or sliced or pulled it gets crazy..

Im sure in your area there's things we have Never seen/eaten here!!..By the way I'm not trying Blood pudding if you ask!LOL

Keith, do you have a really good homemade bb-q sauce you can let go of?
PB& J are a staple around here....I could go for one right now, lol.

I understand you don't have custard in the US.? Sort of like chocolate sauce, but yellow and vanilla flavoured.
[bakingbites.com]

And you don't have sausage rolls, Cornish pasties, pork pies.

And you have a ban on products containing blackcurrents? So no Vimto drink. No Ribena.
Re: Something different off topic.

We for sure have sausage rolls. Except we call them "pig in a blanket" here. Can't say that I've had a pork pie though. The cornish pasty is similar to what some places here call a calzone.

As far as BBQ goes. I have been known to travel nearly 2 hours to eat at places I consider to be REALLY good BBQ. I am not a BBQ sauce guy. I like the flavor cooked into the meat. I think the sauces just mask the taste of poorly cooked meat. When it comes to things like ribs, I like the dry rub and smoke taste vs the BBQ sauce stuff. Too often, places will over cook the rib meat. If it falls off the bone, it is over cooked.

I lived and worked in Texas for about 8 years and bb-q is serious down there. Slow cooked and smoked with mesquite was the bomb. Southern bb-q is about as good as you can get.
We have been using Sweet Baby Ray's bb-q sauce for years.....problem is, the high fructose corn syrup they have as an ingredient.....not so good if you are watching your health.
Looking for a good homemade recipe for a tasty bb-q sauce. I don't mind spicy...as in peppers.

More research tells me you don't have Jaffa Cakes either, or HobNob biscuits. You're missing out there.

I always thought it funny that while you guys seem to be able to buy guns and ammo with no problems, bringing Kinder Eggs into the country is likely to get a SWAT team jump you. (they are German, so not a British export. We do have them here, and somehow we manage to educate our children not to eat the plastic toy inside).

Ozzie no homemade BBQ Sauce recipes to share.....sad smiley,,,, I just use bullseye original..smiling bouncing smiley

I'm pretty good at making a Mean Chipotle salsa..Or at least I've been told it's good by a few..

Pimento I have had some frozen Custard up in St Louis Once years ago..sort of a thicker yellower richer vanilla type Ice cream..Pretty decent...

I did have a first last week at the Casino Buffet in Mississippi ...it was a Fried pastry stuffed with ground beef..very spicy..it was called Jamaican beef pie...I kid you not it was a sweet pastry like a fried pie but stuffed with meat..sort of Unique...But didn't want more than one..I like my wifes homemade chicken Pot pie better thoughwinking smiley

I spend a good bit of time late at Night on youtube looking at people in other countries taking road trips..cameras in cars and just driving..I love it...

I've toured Great Britain and Sweden and Germany,,Russia,,Austria,,France,,Australia South Africa extensively LOL!!!

One thing I notice in most other world countries is not many to non Fast Food eateries and also notice not alot of Billboards along the highways..

Here in mys area I cant go through town 20 ft without every type of fast food ..from KFC... Subway...Mc Donalds...Burger King...Zaxbys..Wendys...Chick Fil A..Taco Bell...and a dozen more then a mile down the road they repeat again...Really pitiful if you ask me...

And along the Highway lawyers on billboards telling you to call them now to get a settlement...every mile upon mile advertisement.'s that's basically worthless and UGLY..

If they visit the beaches in the summer, they will see sights worse than the billboards and fast food joints. I guess they would see the product of those fast food joints. Ain't nothin' says 'Merica like a 350 pound woman in a 2 piece bikini winking smiley I like my women with meat on the bones but I cant deny there are some out there that would probably be better off with more covered. I'm a 250 pound guy myself but I know better than to go to the beach with no shirt and a speedo on.

Hmmm...."I can hear a foreigner describing their trip to the US...."fast food and everyone's obese"

Sadly, it's happening here in the UK, now. I'm not sure what's happened, we've had fast food of various types for decades, we've had a habit of sitting on our behinds watching too much TV for decades. And food in general isn't that expensive here, more than the US, definitely, but reasonable. But in the past decade, obesity has become a serious problem. Maybe it's related to heavy internet use, Facebook/Twitter etc, living in the virtual world instead of actually going out and doing something. Maybe it's something more obscure, like food that's 'not right'. I'm thinking here about meat from animal given hormones. Or GMO crops. Or pesticides / fertilizers. But it's affecting all ages, the number of overweight children I see is worrying. And it's putting a strain on our Health Service: people with diabetes, heart problems, worn out joints, and more. And it's clearly going to get much worse in the coming decades.

That post made me laugh Daniel, the beauties are far and few on the beaches. I ain't heavy and I'm not pretty either, so no speedo for this old boy either. lol

Pimento, true that. Most don't know what they are putting in their bodies and probably don't care.... as long as it tastes good.

My wife and I try our darnedest to eat organic and as many raw foods as we can....veggies and fruits, that is. We also like meat of all kinds and buy from the local butcher.

I also think beer is good for our health and,... for relaxing after a hard day.

I was raised to eat everything on my plate.......if pa left something on his plate it was ok for us kids to. I can only remember one time him leaving something and that was Brussel sprouts. I eat the heck out of them these days....hardy vegetable.

Here's a news article on obesity in the UK:
It doesn't say anything new, really, but it does confirm what I summised earlier.

One recent 'trend' I've noticed is the acceptance of overweight/obese as being 'normal'. For example deliberate use of 'larger' models in the media. The media encouraging people to embrace their size, be themselves, etc. And of course clothing retailers are now catering willingly for larger people, so issues about obtaining nice attractive clothes in your size don't exist anymore. It seems that whereas in the past, you would be aware that you were overweight, and might consciously or sub-consciously take steps to control your weight, today you just carry on the way you are.
