A friend of mine found this gold coin last Sunday She was using her trusty MXT.
Live vid on facebook. Pretty coin. About 2 inches down along the sidewalk of a very old home.

That's why we swing as one never knows....Congrats on a superfind.....One of the most productive areas of any home is the walkway in and out...If concrete and rebar a problem use a small sniper coil....

Good to see She paid Her dues. I hate when Newbs find one as it spoils them and makes People think it is easy just buy a Detector put the coin to the ground and a Gold coin pops out. This is a once in a lifetime find! If you are lucky.

That certainly is a very nice find and in remarkably good condition,i would be back around detecting that same area again as a slim chance that others may also be in the same location,just a suggestion of course.

I will tell her about all the congrats from you folks.
Her name is Sam and she is a hard core hunter like all of us She found a US buckle. also found a 69 cal minnie ball carved into a ring that was found at a Gen John Hunt morgan site and many other sweet relics She been digging for many many years.

That's a beautiful coin, with great detail. It would've been a significant loss back then, something like 100 - 150 Dollars equivalent in modern money.

Beautiful, what an exciting find! Thanks for sharing. Love seeing that bit of soil still clinging to the coin, and high grade half eagles are not common.

And a major loss for whoever dropped it. Judging by the light wear, I'd guess most likely dropped in the 1840's.
