Tesoro which One

I am throwing this out there because of a couple of reasons

What I want to know is which one is better ? The Lobo Supertraq or the Tej'on, The Lobo has Auto ground tracking in one of it's modes where the Tejon does not, and they Both run at around 17. / 17.8 kHz.but apart from physical design features I see very little difference.

So what is so special about the Lobo and which one is deeper.

Interesting question,i have never used either of those detectors but always fancied a Lobo which i think would be deadly on small hammered coins and gold,but i do own a hybrid machine called the Laser Trident11 Extreme,this is based on the Trident11 but runs @18khz rather than 14khz,it is tweaked inside to basically make it as powerful as the Tejon but has the same discrimination as the Lobo.

Mine came with the 11x8 WS coil and its as light as a feather,with the 11'' coil its more suited i guess to clear open farmland but i also have a 5.75 Concentric which i use on trashy roman/saxon sites,must admit it did take some time getting use to not having a screen,but as mentioned a few times due to wrist problems i cannot swing a heavy rig for long periods of time,but the Deus and the Trident Extreme tick my boxes for UK site conditions.The machine also comes with manual or fixed GB,also the ability too use both Concentric and Widescan coils as well.

So cannot help with the original question which machine is better,but i use a similar spec machine that has many features of both the machines that you have mentioned,but it does not have the 'Auto ground tracking' that you specifically have mentioned.

I had the Lobo ST and have the Tejon for relic hunting. With the same coils the Lobo ST doesn't have the depth of the Tejon. I would say by 3" in mild ground. You can get the same depth as the Tejon if you go inside and adjust the gb as per Keith's video. I'm not sure what that would do to the all metal. All metal is definitely better with the Lobo ST. Which makes it better for gold.

You can hipmount the Lobo.
You can take it in the water to almost chest deep.
Runs very smooth in iron.

Not sure but the Lobo probably runs smoother in mineralized ground than the Tejon.

Thanks Guys, Tesoro's are not one of the most current machines but they still have what it takes to get the job done and as basic as they are they have stayed focused on the purity of detecting, All these modern gadgets are nice features but Tesoro are like a hammer or a wrench they have a job and they get on with it,

Go with a Tejon..the lobo st is nice ..but the The Tejon is just a whole lot more powerful..in depth and in sensitivity..

Thanks Keith I was kind of hoping you would drop by, I have always had a lot of respect for Tesoro above all others, From the finds I have seen and the rate of finds when it comes to Hammered and Celtic Staters I think they are the best there has ever been,

I would use the Vaquero for coins/jewelry and the Tejon for relics.There is an electronic book on amazon that talks about the Vaquero and Tejon and is quite good. Worth the $10 bucks.

Which Tesoro machine did you go with in the end ?? i am finding that i am using my Laser Trident11 Extreme which is the UK version of the Vaquero more and more,i have stopped using my faithful old DFX and using the Tesoro more as a backup machine especially on trashy roman/saxon sites with a small coil on,also its been my No1 stubble busting machine as alot of my fields are still in stubble and will be till the spring,of course the stubble is rotting so can get back again with the Deus.

But i am starting too appreciate the simplicity but effectiveness of a Vaquero,i also love using the Laser B3 as well.

No mate not yet, I am working on a few other projects first and I have found a few other machines that are worth checking out when I have time, I am at the stage where I have all the power I need and I have my current machines set up just right, There's no reason to mess with what works with my everyday setup, So I am looking for another machine that I can mess with.
