Didn't even know they existed!

Hi everyone, I am new guy to the forum and just wanted to share my finds of the day. I found an 1858 Flying Eagle one central piece. I really had no idea that there was such a thing! I would add a picture but I can't figure out how to! Lol

That's a great find. Detector used, settings, Type of site?

Right now I use a Garrett Ace 350 with the stock DD coil. Set on zero which is all metal. And sensitivity was two notches below full. The site is an old cellar hole from the 1800's. Way to much iron and junk for the Ace to sift but I managed to pull the FE cent, sleigh bell, harmonica reeds, flat buttons, a few buckles, wrench, and an ax head out of it on my first hunt. Oh and a lot of junk! Lol

I figured it out! Here are some pics of my FE cent. Should I try to clean it more or leave it alone?

Leave it!! I wouldn't try to clean it no more. Most of the time on copper coins, it ruins them when people clean them. Nice find!!

That rare FE find is in nice shape compared to the few I have dug.....nice going! and welcome to the forum Big Papa!

I would go no further than a gentle toothbrushing in warm soapy water, rinse and dry.
