Anyone have any experience with one? I may have the opportunity to get one cheap. I was always intrigued years ago; but I've never been around one. Any specifics would be appreciated. This unit has the 15" coil and I'm told an 8". Curious how it would fair with the 8" coil at the 5hz freq.

Here's something I wrote back in 2000 that might help a tad Deadlift?
FIELD TESTS ON 8" RELIC HAWK COIL ; FINDINGS Part 1

PLOUGHED FIELD, in conjunction with Musketeer w/ 10" TS coil.

Standard side by side comparison on signals received on first the Relic Hawk, then the Musketeer.

DISC OFF DISC ON 5 TARGET

Hawk; iffy signal no signal ointment tube
Musketeer, positive positive same target

Hawk, spit none iron nail
Musketeer, spit spit same target

Hawk, spit none iron fragment
Musketeer, spit none same target

Hawk, positive signal positive Geo 1d @ 5"
Musketeer, same same same target

10p buried at 8"

Hawk, no signal none 10p
Musketeer, no signal none 10p

CONCLUSION

The small coil was easy to use, but displayed slight ground noise despite doing several GB procedures.
Depths were poor at best.
At times, pinpointing was off slightly to the top right.
Several targets were "lost", when disc was increased, but found with the Musketeer even as discrimination was increased to nearly maximum.
To me it did not offer any great advantage as I would prefer to use a standard TS 800 or TS 1000 coil on a standard Musketeer.

(It didn't format correctly on reproduction here and my apology for that)

Thanks guys. I've done some reading since posting and though limited; there's not alot of positive info out there. I'm going to pass on this one.

Probably a wise decision!
They were difficult enough to figure out when they were in Production.
Finicky to use, awkward to handle, prone to cable failures especially on entry into the control box power socket.

But, driven carefully, they could detect quarters up to 14" [ in ideal non mineralised soils ]
