Had to dig alot of iron out of the way to get this Confederate Button

it is a Confederate Lined C.....Site is loaded with iron........dug a ton of it today with the Shadow-X5....5x10DD coil....

Confederate cavalry button from the civil war...They were made in England during the War year's and ran through the Blockaded port's of the south to get to the confederacy...

the button is 7/8 of an inch plain backgound with a lined block letter C denoting Cavalry branch of service...

Extremely hard to find ...My first in a quarter century of relic hunting...I have all way's wanted to find one and the excitement of actually digging one was awesome for me yesterday..


monetarily they are quite valuable also....but it does not matter to me it's the history and the quest...

I associate the Button as belonging to an Alabama Cavalry regiment I have been researching...

I wanted to ask you this question.
Medicine bullets, the one's soldiers had to bite down on when in excruciating pain. Are those consisidered rare or valuable? I always wanted to know the answer.

are not extremely rare I have a few myself ....Value Monetarily ??? Well not a whole lot maybe a few extra buck's over say a unfired dropped specimen.. but if it's a" true" Pain bullet it is worth more to me personally because it speaks volume's on the hardship's yet valor the war brought ....Imagine having to bite on a bullet why a "Surgeon" cut's off your arm....

I would pray to just pass out.....

Congrats on the fantastic button find.

I once thought that I had found a couple of "bite-the-bullet" bullets, but then later I recalled that the site used to be my Uncle's pig pen. Then it occurred to me that those hogs likely rooted up and chewed on the bullets. So much for my unique finds!!

One of those is truly a piece of personal history, like no other stuff we find.

........and 'combat related'....ALWAYS makes it have significant value.
