Got a new MX Sport in today......Somethings not right

Look at this video. Surely something is wrong with it. it has a brand new set of batteries, the coil cable is on there tight.

That can some times happen when the disc is set to where the mix of metal meet I have done the same thing with many detectors, The reason you are seeing this is because machines like the MXS and the V3i and the Deus CTX and just about any push pad machine on the market has preset levels of Disc and Gain etc

Now I posted here about this and why I prefer the MXT with knobs because it allows me to have 100% variable control, But with push pads you have pre sets so if a target falls between those pre sets the response you get is what you are seeing here,

There is nothing wrong with your machine but that is how the Stepped Disc Level behave because they are Pre Sets and Items that fall between those pre sets can and will be miss ID'd Ok.

Yes I know what you are saying but were they MX- Sports because a CTX or an F-75 won't do the same because their Disc pre sets will be set to different levels because they are different brands,

Try Lowering the Disc by 1 "And" 2 Notches/ Clicks below the factory pre set and then try setting above by 1 And 2 Clicks, and then you will see if the factory setting is set at a cross over point where the 2 metals meet,

Part of the reason you are seeing this is also the fact that it is a Clad Quarter "CLAD" meaning a mix of metals and the detector is Telling you That it is a Mix,

John, no offense but you are delusional. Lol Bill thats really weird and certainly not normal nor acceptible. Your previous mx sport certainly didnt have this issue.

John ive never seen any detector that can discriminate depth level of certain metal lmao. Its not border line disc where its choppy all through the depth, its fine at 9 inches but gone at 7 then back again at 5-6 inches. Its not the disc.. no way.. period

That's a Stupid Statement to make., Think about your Statement here, And Ask your self this, " Why would it behave like his Previous " MX-Sport when the New Ones have had a Software Update.

I really do think they have potential I just need to get my hands on one that works right. Or I could use this one and miss all targets in the 6-8 inch range. Maybe Tom will send me the one he used in his video, not the drop test video but the iron one......Lol

It might behave different if the coin was Buried in the Ground, because in an Air Test it has nothing to compare the Quarter with.

So, you're going to make me put my 10" coil on my MXS... OK, you win.

My MX Sport does not do that. I tried to make it do it with varying number of tones, but it didn't. The last thing I can think of is to put it in fixed GB and see what it does. You may have a defective unit.

Well he did have one, and you don't need to fit your 10" Coil, but it could be caused by any number of reasons and maybe by a tweak here and there it might be possible to narrow it down before jumping back to the MXS Issues of Old, Because I am just Guessing but at leased I am trying, and I could well be Wrong quite easily.

Such effect can also arise in case of the non-uniform composition of a coin, for example when coin center from steel alloy and a coin edging for example from brass...
If this is so, then the detector on the contrary is highly sensitive...
And concerning discrimination setup - I doubt as in case of reduction of distance of VDI of the purpose grows but doesn't decrease...

Lmao at some responses. Bottom line its broke.
Its frustrating to watch all of these issues. Ive seen many detectors have some glitches on release but never to this degree.. this was supposed to be all fixed.. worse part is who knows which ones are fixed? guessing game.. i know whites will take care of it but what a pain for the customers. When was it released? feels like a year ago .. id love one if working the way it should, but that may never happen. Looks like if working properly it would kick butt...

Sorry to hear about your problems with this new detector,cannot suggest anything as i neither own one or plan on owning one,but hope Whites do resolve this on going problem as it is surely must be damaging sales.I like my Whites detectors but i cannot see me buying another one ongoing which is a shame as they have always been so ultra reliable in my mind and never had any problems what so ever.

Hope you get this problems sorted out quickly.

This might just be how it responds to Air Tests, One way to see it this is so is by putting the Coin on the Ground and ground balancing the machine and then wave the coil over the coin at different heights, It could some thing that simple Or Not, One indoor Air Test still leaves a lot to be discovered.

Maybe in some cases but I tested it with a silver quarter, a clad quarter and other coins. I even tried a large dollar coin and it was even worse on that.

Blind spot....Sounds like a coil issue....the eddy currents are not jiving at the 7" point.
That theory sounds as good as the rest of them maybe even better. Not true though, I don't have a clue, lol.

How much is whites paying you to deflect? did you get training from the clintons? did you bump your head? Ive done air tests on all of my detectors since 1978 to get a feel of its responses.. never has one ever acted like this .. ITS BROKEN!

Whites have never paid me One Cent, but I know enough not to call it until all tests have been exhausted and even then I would still wait to hear what they have to say, We did all this earlier this year and I also was in to it from week One, Whites does not need anyone pre-judging any thing at this moment in time, We did that and we all know how that ended.

It hasn't ended. And its not prejudging when Bill has one in his hands and it fails the most basic test lol prejudging is what may be said before release not after release and in the hands of users ... Its called testing.. again are you ok?
