What we are seeing does not seem normal but I can set my disc up to do that where Nails will give either a high tone or a low tone and the same with coins and this is nothing new and Until Whites say there is a Fault then this is all Guess work.

Yep there's something wrong with that one for sure. Have you tried doing a factory reset on it, just to see if it makes a difference? If so and the problem is still like that, I would also venture to say it is a bad coil. The MX Sport that I did the videos on, air tested a US Quarter at 12 inches with repeatable beeps. Yours didn't even pick it up at 11 and was more like 9 inches. I would lean towards it being a coil. It gave the correct tone/good signal the first couple times you ran it by the coil with the quarter really close to the coil at approx the 20 second mark into your video. But then after that, it was giving the broken/rejected tone.

Nope, my statement was very accurate and I stand by it. Thanks for confirming. Lol

Factory reset is a good idea.

Whites designed the new software to reject those pesky 6 to 8 inch silver coins as they will not be key date coins. We have decided that 80% of coins are buried no more than 6 inches thus saving the user time - a NEW Whites feature!!

Why can't someone simply smell a pile of crap and call it crap? NO - that's not facial cream!!!! IT'S CRAP!!

I'm sure Whites will say that you are the first to report that problem and it must be the way you're using it causing the issue. This is exactly what they told me on my 1st MXS when I talked to Steve. He said his didn't do that!!

Where you able to test out the modulated audio with that issue?

All Valid points, But I think that if we start up Bagging Whites again they will not come here with any useful Info and this forum will become a place just to Gas Bag and fool around, Finding Whites Guilty without a Trial is not right heaven forbid if the system treat us like that, You can bet your boots that Whites has been here and read all this mess, Which is why I was using the Diplomatic approach, As this is a repeat of what happened earlier this year due to all this Sabre Rattling you can bet the farm that the only person that will get any response from Whites is the Own of this detector and the rest of us will have to wait until we personally have a problem with an MX-Sport.

In all fairness it is wrong to Pre-Judge Whites in this way without any proof, but most of all without giving them a chance to at leased have a look at it first.

I understand completely John. I have been silent for months now trying to be politically correct. Let's just say that with the past issues that Whites should have stepped up quality control ten fold. This includes checking each and every one of the MXS's before they are boxed up. I would love to see a personal note from an employee in the box saying that the machine was assembled and tested. I would pay an additional fee equal to the cost of postage to ship said machine back......

Think of this - How many machines are out there in the hands of users with this 6 to 8 inch "Vanishing Coin Trick" without knowing it? 1, 5, 500? Like the original issues there are maybe 1000's that are in the field not working right still?

Yes Kenny, This could be caused by any number of reasons,, But how we handle it will reflect the response that we get from Whites, And the Idea about a Note from the Tester/Engineer would be a nice touch, hopefully someone from Whites will take that on board and suggest it at their next meeting etc

Since the re-release this is the first machine that has raise some confusion as to what is actually happening and Whites are the best Qualified to give us the Answers So we will have to wait and see what happens between Whites and the OP.

Can't be any worse than Minelab right now. The CTX has been out for 4 years and they are still having trouble with them. Mine was pretty much dead out of the box and they are 30-40 days behind on warranty repairs. That's just what they have in house right now to fix...not to mention the people that they have already fixed machines for. Their customer return rate must be unreal. I work for a large automotive supplier that supplies parts to most of the major manufacturers in the world. I have worked there 15 years. In 15 years, there have been multiple years that the company has not had one single customer return out of millions of parts produced. That is some pretty good quality control on a very large scale operation; we produce approx 25,000 parts a day on just fuel injectors alone. I don't know how many metal detectors these companies can produce in a day, but from what I've seen in videos of their operations...I would say it is nowhere close to 25,000 of them a day. SO with less volume coming off their line....WHY can't their QC be much tighter than what it is? There should be NO reason for customer returns on bad units out of the box. As of this date, there is not a metal detector manufacturer of units I have owned, that I've not had to use their warranty for defective units straight from the factory.

Wow Daniel I would have thought you would of had it back by now, I had forgotten about your troubles with the CTX, It should not be too long now..
Re: Got a new MX Sport in today......Somethings not right

Daniel, You are absolutely correct about QC. Yes, I too have used various manufacturers warranties on detectors. I will say that I have had the least issues with Whites overall. In fact my two MXS's were the first machines from Whites with issues. I have been using Whites since the 3900 D Coinmaster and most every machine they have produced. My favorite Whites coin machine is the M6. I must of had 6 of them off and on.....

Anyway I feel the hostility from the beginning wasn't us users. It wasn't the machine. It was the factory propaganda videos! Before it's release non of us said it was better than the MXT, ATpro and XP Deus. It was the factory. They blew so much smoke up my butt I'm now pay higher insurance premiums as a smoker!!

They skewed sales videos and teased us for months on how this machine was going to dominate. Then what happened? We all got them and they were facial cream - I mean CRAP! I was more mad at the factory videos than the machine. For me this is the root of my issues with the MXS.

Yeah Kenny that is how it started with me, needless to say their Video's are more about detecting nower days which is a good move

I did try several factory resets and changed batteries, checked the coil cables, etc. I will just call whites on Monday and hopefully they will take care of it.

If your modulation isn't working right have them fix that too? I want to see just one MXS with a proper working modulation...

its the same as it has always been. Maybe modulated the last inch but I wouldn't even call it modulation but maybe a sharp decrease in sound.

That reflects Keiths review as well - It still doesn't work. They've had nine months and who knows how many updates and it still doesn't work.

Maybe you'll get it back from Whites and see the SAT goes to 9 and they removed the Audio Modulation? Could happen.....

Every time I ask they ignore it so good luck.
Just show me a video of it working is all I ask for.
But be careful because they will threaten to ban you.

When you loose it like that what is the target I.D. showing..

almost sounds like the I.D. reject volume is kicking in as the I.D. switches..

do you have a zone turned down volume wise on it?

sound like the notched area is muted..

Yeah, I have seen something like that happen when the Disc is set right on the edge to knockout a certain target and then a Quarter or what ever will change it's tone, up close it is normal and further away it sounds normal and then at a certain distance it made a low tone.

Keith I think that it is more related to what you stated here.
