MX Sport Audio Modulation smileys with beer
November 24, 2016 12:24AM
You guys asked for this video so I shot it today, November 23rd in a light rain. Let me know what you'd like to see next and I will do what I can in between my normal duties here at the factory.

Couple notes - AUD MOD is dependent on various factors. Target size, ground conditions, but most of all, SENSITIVITY. The modulation response curve shrinks at lower sensitivity and expands at higher sensitivity. It's not a linear change, but an exponential one, so you get full volume for the first bit and then it drops off after that. A good rule of thumb is that whatever sensitivity you set on the MX Sport is about how many inches you will hear a nickel-sized target at full volume. In that way you can use a combination of AudMod and sensitivity to dial in the depth you want to hear.

Important! If you are after deep targets I would highly suggest you do NOT use AudMod. You will miss out on the deeper signals. But if you want to hone in on a shallower depth range it can be of use.

Here's the video, it's a DANKOWSKI EXCLUSIVE as a thank you for putting up with my shenanigans. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family from all of us at White's. If you don't celebrate Thanksgiving, that's fine, I will eat enough for you too. cool smiley

Tom........ you are most certainly welcome...... and ......... you are certainly welcome on this forum. I thank you..... and appreciate that you have 'thick skin' to accommodate the various personalities of/with the general public. An 'art' all unto itself. Excellent video Tom. Its good to see it works on new ones. Just wish we knew with confidence the supply chain was the same.

Good video.

I had posted this on the other thread earlier and wanted to paste it here as well.

OK Tom I appreciate the video. I know it took some of your family time and I respect that you did that. Although the tone volume going in a strait line for a bit (depending on the power level) then falling off is not what I'm used to. This video shows me that it is way different than the two MXS's I had. Both of mine had audio that ran strait to about the last 2 inches of detection then dropped off in 3 or so wacky steps. I don't know how else to say it? The machine in your video works much better than either one of mine. But my last machine had the SAT that went to 8 and I was assured from my distributor that it had ALL the updates being fresh off the truck. I will now wait until my buddy Bill gets his back for review.

Weird I use to run mine around 6 SENS and mine would just drop off and make a few crack sounds at the last couple inches with MoD on and that was with the update.
If it worked like in the video I would of kept it.

Thanks to all! I love a challenge and have always been a fighter... Down side is that's the reason I've had so many concussions and broken bones...

Next video will be on sensitivity and how to get maximum depth out of your MX Sport. Also gold reactivity. Might go into other coils a bit too.

I like what I'm seeing, The MX-Sport has come along way,

Tom is there any news about smaller Coils apart from the 7" DD Coil, Like the 5.3 (6") Coil or the 4x6 for those folks who like the shooter

Thanks mate,

John.

John, we can look into that. My vote would be for a 6" concentric like the one for the GMT. That thing is HOT in serpentine.

That would be Great Tom, because those two coils are very hot and Ideal for those who want to use their machine for Peospecting, I tested mine and they defy Gravity,Lol.

Thanks Again.

I would also like a smaller concentric coil. Thanks.

I think a Coil like that would work well with the High Gain that the MX-Sport has, and I think you would be surprized how small the Nuggets would be that it will see, If you can run the Gain maxed out it won't be far behind what the higher frequency machines can see.

I like mine a lot. I don't post much about it due to all the flak a man takes for doing it. I did just order the 7" coil for it though; I think that will be a good fit. My buddy has the 13 inch one for his Sport but hasn't tried it out yet. I am waiting his opinion on it.

Just out of a curious mind...why aren't there a lot of reviews or reports on the 950 concentric coil for this machine? It is an option and has been out pretty much since day 1 but the only person I have seen using one is that woman I can't stand in those Silver Slinger videos and I can't make it through their videos long enough to know anything about the coil.

The 6x10 is an OK coil but too buoyant in the water; I imagine that was not its intended use though. The 7 inch should be about right for trash and hunting creeks/streams IF it doesn't float too. Oh well. That's enough jaw flappin. I guess I will head out to a US cavalry camp and see what I can dig up after this good rain we had last night.

According to some that 7" is very Robust and has good separation and that the build quality is as good as any ever made, I wouldn't mind one for ol faithful.

Good luck and have fun..

So is this thing finally right?

Audio modulation fixed, pin pointing working correctly, cracked faceplate issue root caused and corrected?

And rather then play Russian roulette, how do we know if we have one with all the purported fixes?

You could call Whites and ask them ?
Re: MX Sport Audio Modulation smileys with beer
November 29, 2016 07:28PM
If the MXS is now correct, you've then got to ask yourself, after seeing the videos available would you want to buy it?
Personally i don't see it excelling in any department, it certainly looks a decent detector, maybe a good all rounder but other than it being waterproof, to me it's lost in a sea of similar performing units.

Unless you buy one full retail from White's directly and make sure it was made in the last month, I suspect you will most likely run into one with at least some issue. We are still stuck in a buy it, send it in situation I'm afraid. At least they cross shipped to Bill so he only had to wait a few business days for the replacement. I say this because there is no clear way to know when talking to distributor about this. They get told one thing from white's and relay to dealer and find out the info was false. Trust me, they are just as frustrated as the dealers. And, NO, no one can tell by serial unless white's is willing to mark a specific date of when they were 100% correct and can say what serials were manufactured after that date or sent in for update after that date. We know that as of at least late October manufacture they are 100% correct. The one in the video Tom posted and the one Bill has are 100% correct.

BUT, they are now fixed! AND White's has the best CS in the business so at least one will know, with some effort, a proper one can be had. I think it's a clear winner in it's market segment now that it's fixed but here we are a few months from a new AT detector release...

Can't the distributors simply open the boxes and test the units? If there is any doubt about the functioning of a unit, they have an obligation to ensure their product works as it should.

I could have sworn you said you sold it. Hopefully, you'll get some rain so you can get out. I always welcome tips on the machine. It's almost time to send it in for the upgrades, though.

IF you buy one don't remove it from the box--just send it directly to Whites.

There is No Need to Open the Box because the Bar Code And Serial Number and the year of Manufacture is printed on a White Label on Every Box of Every Detector Sold / Shipped.

That's been proven to provide no incite on status of an MX Sport. Distributors are not going to break the factory seal on detectors. Some dealers might if they carry stock to ensure functionality but one could argue it would not longer be considered new unless the factory is willing to cross ship brand new sealed ones for ones that are not right. Until their is clarity its a roll of the dice.

Well the thing to do would be to ask the dealer if they could phone Whites and Confirm the serial Number and date of manufacture of the machine and this can be done without opening the Box, Or ask for the serial number and phone Whites your selves and ask them to confirm it the Date and Software update to that particular machine, As I have done with many of my Whites machines as it is very Cool that Whites Records go back many Decades, As it is I have ordered 2 more machines From Whites this morning.

What did you order/

The good thing is that if a customer received an old not upgraded unit White's will ship them out a new one. So I don't see a problem.

I agree, I don't see any problems with just a quick phone call to put ones mind at ease,, My main machine won't change regardless of what comes out because I have the coils to match any job but the others are to give me more things to search for, I don't own a waterproof machine so that's high on my list,

I want another MXT and an MX-Sport and 2 other machines as well,
