Thanks,

Nope--no numbers in a.m.----It does have those three hash marks (grouped together) that come on the screen above the "speedometer"--In a position indicating what the target might be.-----They light up providing the target isn't too deep.

Some comments on that video:

a) There's multiple machines on today's market that can mimic that ability.

b) why oh why oh why didn't he ever progress to putting a coin UNDER any of those nails ? Notice that every last one of his tests had the coin places in various trajectories AROUND and NEXT to the nails. But none with the coin under a nail.

Why???-----Because it probably would have flunked the test under the nail!grinning smiley-------Seriously---that was a demonstration of Montes nail board test (or very similar) and that big coil at least passed it on the same plane---which is QUITE an accomplishment for that large of a coil.-----Keith did that same test with the Tejon & 9X8 (concentric) coil and said that it was the only detector with that large of a coil that could pass that test 100% that he knew of.------Well----here ya go----13" coil on a G2+.------I did notice this guy had the disc set on 1-----I think Keith had the disc set on the "I" on foil---(or real close to that).----------Curious----which of these "multiple machines on todays market market that can mimic that ability" that you mention?---with that large of coil---with that large of coil! ------------Del

The test is suppose to be standardized with a indian head penny. I'm guessing the nickel used in the video will change things alot. My f19 would not pass the nailboard test wit has the stock 5x10 on with an Indian head. F19 and g2+ are exactly the same machine besides rod setup.

G2+ is the only detector with a large coil DD doing test nails.
To test you need to get to know the equipment.
G2 + is a great detector. It has only silent audio

No doubt. But there are machines that will pass that test. A 77b, and a few of the 2-filter tesoros (like a silver sabre, etc...)
Re: G2+ Ultimate master unmasking

Tesoro does test coil of coaxial not DD. Coins used in the test is 5 US cents, 50 cents Polish nickel and brass Polish 5 cents. Nickel coins have a low amplitude and are less well detected.
Top detects 19kHz worse 13 khz

Have to disagree with you on that (I think)---your English isn't that good.-----19kHz should/would be picking up that U.S. nickel better than it would say a I.H. (or zinc).

Denari,

thankyou again for chiming in with the videos. But whenever you're placing the coin *next* to the nail (no matter how close), the test exercise is simply a target-separation challenge. Why not try the video tests by putting a coin UNDER a nail ? Then you'd be testing for AVERAGING ability, and not separation ability.

Denari,

thank you very much for following through ! Although we can not understand the narration language .... a picture is worth 1000 words !

I liked how you started with showing the viewers the sounds of the nails alone (so that later on, no one mistakes a simple "sound" as being iron vs. something conductive in the midst). And at ~ 3:15, I can still hear the nickel (albeit choppy) as distinct from how the nail standing alone sounded. Thus your setup appears to have a good ability at "averaging".

And I like how you took various factors into consideration. For example: At about the ~6 mark, it appears you were factoring in "ground" and bottle cap rejection, so that there was no mistake that the settings and prior tests were not "real world". After adjusting for those factors, you repeat the nail vs nickel tests. Did I understand that part correctly ? If so, bravo !

Then you demonstrate the understanding of horizontal vs vertical test. Glad you tried it at 90 degrees variation. That mimics various placements of masking . And demonstrates the variations on what the machine sees in the ground . Thank you ! And in each case: Again the signal from the nickel (albeit choppy) can be heard.

I can only surmise that a small coil would be even better yet.

If I ever get to Europe, or if you ever get to the USA, I'm buying you a beer smiling smiley

i know, i never had the g2+ but while i really liked my g2/ultimate combo, going back over the same ground in some of the spots i have gotten quite a few nice coins and relics down deep with the F75. Two old trees next to two different old houses for starters. I hunted under both trees thoroughly with the G2, but F75 came away with Indian heads and my only shield nickel and barber quarter to date.

The biggest advantage I think the ultimate coil had was its sweet spot seemed to be wider than the F75 with stock coil in terms of getting a repeatable ID until the target was very fringe.
