Folks who may have defective Minelab unit (food for thought)

Seems Minelab has lost a repair tech,,,have a backlog of sorts with warrantied units getting first dibs on repair.

So if you have a defective unt,,,might want to get it in for repair.
Especially folks in typically colder and snowier regions.

Communicated with a gent who has a sovereign at Kellyco for 9 weeks, and still no ETIC date for shipping.

Cheers

Back in late October when I got the bad CTX that was new out of the box, they told me they were 40+ working days behind on warranty work. They sent me a new unit instead of fixing the old one; had it not been that way, I would probably have still been waiting on them to fix it.

I shipped my CTX the first week of Dec. for warranty work and got it back on the 29th.
About 3 weeks round trip with Christmas thrown in the middle of it all.
It was quicker than I thought it would be so maybe they are catching up a bit.

Warranty work comes first - the rest is in line behind it.

I'm as diehard a Minelab guy as anyone, but I wouldn't buy one now until they get their repair situation sorted out. And I don't blame the KC guys as you cant help death and people quitting for family reasons. Minelab has gotten popular enough in the USA that they need a second repair center here.

And yes, I do plan on another ML purchase (a PI, SDC 2300) when family obligations permit me the time to fully use a new machine.

Thursday this week makes 3 months on my out of warranty repair on my original CTX. Broken upper shaft, my guess if the part is on the shelf, the repair would take less than an hour...glad I have backup machines!

These stories,,sad.

This will catch up with them,,,better be careful.

Patience of folks,,,,only last so long.
Will start looking elsewhere.

Primo detector manufacturer,,,,should be doing better in this area.

Does give a person a good reason to buy used Minelab detector with substantial time frame warranty left though.
