Hunted plane crash site today

Finally go to a remote site today,,,,,plane crash site 1932.

Supposedly a Stinson Detroiter went down.

Initial hunt today,,,was a success.

Will not be posting finds until I deem the site pretty much hunted out.

Will post original newspaper article talking about crash also later.

Will be turning at least some of the discoveries over to local historical society,

More to come.

Will take a while,,,weather dependent,,,,,is steep where I go.

Btw,,Deus don't like hillsides.
It tumbled a few times,,but is still kicking.

Sink rate,,,,one of the reason I am doing this,,,is to get a better idea of sink rates in the woods.
So far,,,some surprising results,,,but need more finds,,,to be sure of what I'm thinking.

I hunted a crash site once...

didn't know it was a crash site..middle of the woods...Three ringer trail lead me too it..

Talk about an aluminum nightmare..

Finally moved on..told property owner about all the trash back in the woods and asked if he had a camper explode back there. and he said back in the 50s a plane crashed back there...

I said makes sense...LOL

I hunted a Train wreck site once on purpose....hoping to find the baggage roundup area..saw a pic of the crash from 1911 and there was baggage piled up everywhere....

No luck...did find a ton of BIG IRON>>>>I MEAN HUGE>>>

Good luck...

where gloves that aluminum is like a razor

This site not an aluminum headache,,,the reason why is the locals hauled off most of it,,,,what they could see with their eyes soon after the crash.

But some things left behind,,,,and the local historical society has nothing physically from the site.

A plane around here in 32,,,, was rare,,,heck cars weren't plentiful.

This aircraft took off from down in Tom41s area,,Murfreesboro,,,heading for Atlanta,,,how it got up here,,,I don't know.

Low ceiling and mist when it went down.

All 5 folks killed,,,including 4 year old girl.

Landowner is thrilled by the finds so far....

He's not a detectorists btw.

He does own a lot of land,,,and has connections--- got to keep him happy.
Also,,he will be taking me to a place where the maneuver soldiers were in the area,,,,where they camped and dug.

He as a boy,,actually dug a training and grenade (not detecting).
I handled it this week,,,didn't know they were as heavy as they are.

I've hiked though this one a few times. Never put a detector to it and probably never will.
