Any forum members from the Great White North?
June 16, 2017 01:33AM
On Sunday the wife and I are heading to Cape Breton for the week to celebrate our 25th anniversary. It will be my first trip to the eastern part of Canada as well as my first time metal detecting anywhere in the country. If any of you guys have any tips on which beaches, parks etc. are best to hunt I'd sure appreciate the input.

Also, if you live in the area and should happen upon a bearded, farmer's tanned 260lb. hillbilly combing the beach with a CTX please allow me to apologize in advance. (There are some things that you just can't un-see no matter how hard you try.)eye popping smiley

I'm told I'm kind of hard to miss so please don't hesitate to come over and introduce yourself.

Chris

Have a safe trip and be sure to give us a report---so we can take a trip and never leave the farm.

Hi Neugene,

Lots of beach's and parks in the Cape Breton area...only beaches you have to worry about are the historic areas one being Louisburg....if your outside of the park boundary's your good to gosmiling smiley
I'm located in the southern part of the province...but was born in Cape Breton.
Hope you enjoy your stay with us....good luck.

Thanks Whimpster, we're in Cheticamp tonight. Today I had more luck helping the wife search for sea glass than I did detecting. I can't say it was a bad day at all. Even though the water is still a bit too chilly to allow me to venture out very far, the weather is great, the beaches and countryside are beautiful and so far everyone here has been beyond friendly. My only complaint is that I waited too long to come here.

Doc, I'll let you know if the finds start hitting my pouch

Chris,

Gland your enjoying the trip...yes the Atlantic ocean is a tad cold at anytime of the year in this areasmiling smiley
There are a few nice beaches along your journey...Sugar loaf near Dingwall, also Neils Harbour,Ingonish Beach,Wreck Cove...just to name a few.
Best to ask the local people where the best beaches are in their area..
If you happen to hit the southern end of Nova Scotia we also have lots of beaches as well...look me up smiling smiley

Cheers, Whimp
