Any ideas how to set it right for site conditions? Any tips? I have bad feeling so, I'm working too high last time.

The Impact is like a tool box. Look at the conditions. Are the things you are after deep? Is there a lot of trash? The site you are working determines the settings, not the other way around. People get the idea that there is one magic setting for all sites. There isn't.

As for gain, if there are a lot of surface targets, 70-80 should be good. If surface targets are fewer, then a higher gain can be used. I run mine at around 80-95 site depending. I will go lower on occasion to "test the water" so to speak. Experiment, you wont hurt anything.

Run a high gain and find a deep target 8-9 inches and then back the gain off until you get a signal thats diggable.

As long as EMI is mitigated........ the higher the gain setting....the higher the audible resolution. (In most types of dirt mineralization).

Good advice. I was overpowered unit last time.... I was hear cracking - popping short sounds. Deep targets yes, by also huge ground respond.

As Tom said go for it when you can with out a lot of chatter...for bad iron I turn it down to about 65-75 but you do want to have the disc turned down to real low if not 0..the smaller coil allows you a little more gain in iron in my dirt
