OK NO ONE IS BRAND LOYAL --- SO

IF you had to pick just one --NO NOT I CAN HAVE MORE-- just one at about $500.00 to $800.00 what would you have? I don,t care what your soil is like or how much trash. " Just one" let us know what it would be. I might find a good one this way. Thanks Flintstone

If it had to be new, it would be a tie between an AT Pro and a Sovereign GT ....... If it could included used , I would probably opt for a ML SE Pro .....Jim

Used minelab. I just love their accurate disc. and bad ground capabilities.

I think about this a lot. If I could only have one, which one would it be. I have used many that I liked but only one that I love above all others. That would be the Fisher F5. No...it doesn't hunt everything well but it does hunt what I hunt the most very well.

But.....as I transition to more of a "treasure hunter" mentality and less of a "detectorist" mentality, I understand that having just "one", favorite or not, is not a viable option. To get the job done I will NEED to have a variety of specialty detectors. Just as my household tool box contains a multitude of simular but functionally different plier type tools, so will my metal detector tool box have to contain a multitude (at least 3) of simular but functionally different metal detectors.

Good luck on your search.

That's like askin me which one of my kids I love the most...can't do it!

Metal detectors are like people. Each with there own strenghts, weaknesse's and personalities that take time to get to know...some more than others.

Hay Aaron, I didn,t ask you to give up any kids. If you didn,t have any you wouldn,t love any would you? What would you want a BOY or GIRL, or Fisher, Whites, Garretts, Good Luck Flintstone

Re: OK NO ONE IS BRAND LOYAL --- SO

I have found out that what might suit me may not appeal to the next
and what appeals to others may not "do it" for me.
Detectors have their +s and -s, and their own set of quirks.
So it may be necessary to define exactly what environs you will use
it, then some can suggest possible units that fit the description.
Oh, forgot, also feature set.

My pick would be Eric Foster latest design PI - whatever it is, if he was still working. Guess I'd 'settle' for last Goldscan model (5)? That would be one sweet machine!

I'd have to stay with the CZ3D, I like Minelab, but I can hunt anything and anywhere ( - underwater) and I can do it fast with the CZ3D.

If you'd like to see my modified version, click the link below to understand why its my favorite detector.

Excellent question. For me, Garrett Infinium LS. I'm not saying that it is the best one. Just the best one for me so far.

According to that picture in the link...........the CZ-3D.......is equipped with the unique "booze mode".......no wonder everyone wants to add one to their detector arsenal.
Used Explorer SE 1st F75 second in your price range...
March 20, 2011 01:52AM
Although I would trade the two for one E-Trac in a heart beat for old deep coins in the turf.

Two things --

One, I agree with Lawrenzo -- G2 or Gold Bug Pro/DP.

Two -- hey silverhound, you mention an Explorer SE; would you consider an Explorer II as being worthy, also? Used, they are a bit cheaper than SEs...
