Money scam or not

I just read a piece were credit card holders were buying thousands of dollar
woth of one dollar coins from the US mint with free shipping
to rack up travel mile on there credit card.
Then just deposit the coins in the bank to pay off CC = free miles.
The mint now has a cap on how many you can buy at a time..

The card holders only get face value for the coins deposited. They cost more to buy than the face value of the coin.....my first thoughts, anyway

The wat i read it these are just regular Sacajawea dollars and the mint is just
trying to put them in circulation. So thy sell for face value

Marketting strategies in all walks of life and for frequent flyers certainly worth looking into.As far a dollar coins only found 4 since they came out and one wonders if indeed this gets these coins in circulation or just deposited in the banks as in many cases not spent on the open market economy...
Spend a week in Canada and shop in the Canadian economy and will have so many one and two dollar coins in your pocket you will need suspenders to hold up your pants..

Ya detecting north of the border can really cash in.
I have found a few dollars and have been given some as Quarters.
And thats a problem.
