Matching Headphones to your Detector:: REVISITED
July 14, 2011 03:58PM
First, I appreciate all the responses to my original post about matching headphones to your detector. But I was looking for an answer to an electronics question, rather than a specific brand recommendation. I have since e-mailed Fisher with my technical question, and am waiting for a response.

BTW, the QZ-99's are 60 ohm phones.

Thanks
Dan-MO

Dan-MO:

You might find that the following article answers most of your "electronic" questions. It is written by Steve Gholson, who seems to be extremely knowledgeable of the engineering/scientific principles involved in headphones. But, the subject is way more complex than I ever imagined, and I'm guess I'm not going to be the only one who reacts that way.

I may have gotten a little lost in there, but it sounds like 60 ohms will get you better battery life than 600, right?
Or did I just buy those new KOSS QZ-99s like all my investments?
Oh well, they are cool 'phones!
