Crazy!

Have White's no budget for R&D??

A mediocre air test on a gold ring, plenty of coins sitting on the table but none waved infront of the coil, and Tom looks like he's struggling to put a spin on it.

Sven, since your post is directed at me, let me point out that my 1968 Ford truck is 100% American made. The Glock that I was impressed with only because it was accurate and had a high rate of fire and made of good plastic, I just like steel pistols made in the US of A like my Colt model 1911.

Actually was directed at anyone special. Just a post about how much of what people think is still made in the USA isn't. Side note, would rather have a steel pistol as well over plastic.

DeepTech Vista X with 3 search coils.
Works for me

Yes I agree and understand this point however me being from another country who have always admired US manufacturing for its quality do not mind paying premium prices for US made gear - It lasts and its American - two key reasons why some do not mind paying more, however I do understand maximizing profits but it would still be good to have another option for those who want to support local/American manufacturing, no matter how small -

I just hate to see everything ending up in the land of Fu -

I agree. I had the MX5 new and found tons of nice silver and gold jewelry as well as numerous relics.
The only reason I got rid of it is because I needed fast cash. I got more for it on resale than I paid new.
I realized after going through a number of good detectors that I really missed the MX5 for its reliability
in finding the goods. I just found one used for only 3 hours and on my first time out i found an early 1900's ring,
a silver pendant and numerous coins in a park I and many local guys have pounded for years. It really
comes down to knowing how to use the machine and knowing which coils work for your soil conditions.

Dude? Did you really need to resurrect a 2 year old thread about MX7s to say you bought a used MX5 and found some good stuff? How about getting bold and making a new thread?
This might be post holiday, morning grumpiness. I am not mad or anything.

Kind of interesting to see the thread from a bit over a year ago though, Tom.

Now Tom Boykin is gone along with Carl Moreland and other eminently qualified people who have abandoned the sinking ship.

One of those who jumped off and would be in a position to know has said that the company is being financially plundered by certain surviving relatives of Ken White.

Sadly, it looks inevitable that Whites will be the next to follow in Tesoro's footsteps.

Yeah, I've heard that. Shame it was one of the historic core companies. I enjoyed my TDIs, though I didn't use any other models. Ya gotta move into the future or get locked in the past.

True that, Tom. For many years, Whites was THE name in metal detecting.

Always got a kick out of the old Whites TV commercial where the guy rubs his big old pot belly and says "My wife's proud of the weight I've lost...and she's proud of this!" as he holds up a gold ring.

We also lost Bob Canaday. So no future for Whites. Fisher also is going down. No revolutionary products at all.

Like my friends south of the 49th, I prefer to purchase items that are made in my own country.. and yes, our PM notwithstanding, I do love
my country,, So if it is possible to purchase items made here, I will do so.. even if it costs a bit more. If I am unable to buy what I want manufactured or
grown in Canada, I will then buy a 'Made/grown in the USA' item. It is the best of both worlds in my mind.

What I do however is deliberately avoid those /Made/product of China' items. If I see that, I will walk away with the item. No product is worth that
to me.. I know that in many cases it is sometimes unavoidable.. but where I can, I steer clear of those Chinese items
