A Question about a quirk in the Silver µMax?
November 12, 2017 02:25PM
This question was asked from a member on another forum about the Silver µMax.

If I switch the Silver µMax to all metal, its measurably deeper if the disc knob is maxed. Does it on an air test also.

I assume the disc knob should have no affect while the switch is in all metal?

The quirk gets you two more inches on a Silver µMax by turning disc knob to max WHILE in the all metal mode.

I've tried it with my Silver µMax and it does indeed give me an extra 2" in depthsmiling smiley

A delightful surprise...

I noticed that the Silver uMax was deeper in all metal mode but never knew about the quirk you mentioned. Good info!

Do you lose certain targets in allmetal when doing that like small iron ??Or does one conductor drop in depth while one gains depth??

Keith,

It doesn't seem to make any difference on any conductor....gives a 2" depth across the board.
Also tried this on small iron..metal twist ties and old bits of nails...same results.
Still has the modulated sound...softer with depth.
