If you own an MFD can you get a response for a US Silver Dollar?

Still can't get it to tone. I suspect the Silver dollar comes in at over 90?

Did you air test it, what way did you GB it?

This is the biggest piece of silver i have, it weighs 23.25g, in 6khz it reads 71, in 14khz it reads 80.

That's the problem with SOME metal detectors you can change the freq on..they run out of room if your using a higher freq..

Was you on a higher freq coil?

Do you have a lower freq coil?


Ghound is that arrow point Real?? If so very Nice!!! couldn't imagine one being made of silver unless ceremonial or the likes..

No, not real Keith, nor a detecting find, i got it when i represented my country at an archery competition, it's just the heaviest bit of silver i could find to try solve the OP's question.
The US dollar must be a right big coin.

This is with the stock 7kHz. It had to run out of room. Perfectly ground balanced. I will try the 14kHz tomorrow. Half dollar no problem.

Does this mean the Signum MFD has been knocked out of your top detector spot for 2017 ??

What is the value of the Ground Phase after the sensor adaptation with the subsequent Ground Balance?



ps: "False Ground Signal Zone" and "Ground False Signal Filter" must be at zeros.

George, you had me worried that i'm maybe missing silver!
So i've went through the biggest silver and copper coins i have, and i've no problem with my machine.

Maybe this is obvious, but a factory reset and re-adapt the coil might help.

Factory re-set done and coil re-set. All is now ok.

Simple fix. I love the MFD. The deep mode is top of the food chain.

If I have one dislike about the unit is holding down the button and turning it on to re-set the coil when changed.

1. The detector is off!
2. We lift to the search height the coil above the ground, in a place that is clean from metal and other purposes.
As an option, lift the coil above the ground to a height of 40-50 cm.
During the adaptation of the sensor, the coil is not movable!
3. Press and do not release the "+" button, turn on the power of the detector.
When the display shows "frequency ..." - release the "+"
Adaptation is carried out, and the detector goes into semi-automatic ground balance mode.
Smoothly lower the coil from a height of 40-50 cm down until the sound of the GB procedure appears.
In this case, the ground signal line should move from one risk to another strictly on a horizontal line, without any deviations! (as in the previous photo)
If this is not the case, it means that there is a target under the coil or a very high gain level is set.
Repeat the procedure GB several times, fixing the most frequent value of the phase of the ground, usually it is the lowest (closest to zero)
rem: I would recommend activating the manual ground balance and conducting the GB manually.

In this video, the sensor is first adapted, then the frequency offset is plus for working on the salt sea (you do not have to do this, this procedure is for heavy ground only), and then GB in manual mode:

My usual GB procedure with 14khz coil, ST-RT near max, gain 50%, do auto gb, then alter my gain to suit my site, and then i'll do a manual GB to fine fune.
With the lower freqs i can auto GB with almost any power setting, it's much easier.
I find checking the GB manually every so often in the field a quick easy affair.
