Ergonomics the thing I didn't like.

Put that engineering into a F75 model pod and rod,,,,and do a few more tweeks if possible,,would sell well.
Even put in waterproof case.
White's should have went this route vs MX sport.
No need to reinvent the wheel.

It's not too late to do actually.
Ride that MXT platform till the cows come home!!!
Here this White's!!

MXT even with Rutus rod and monitor guts with similar menu system - would be nice.

Those folks at Rutus, hats off to them, Hardly anyone know about them.
Rutus was my 2017 detector pick for all around scoring for price paid.

I didn't post my testing data here as far as using Rutus.
But did pit it though its paces.

Other manufacturers should study Rutus menu layout at least.

The Whites MXT is one of the best machines ever made. I have been a Tesoro person since I got my first Bandido 2 back in the early 90s but when I got my first MXT I knew I would keep it in my arsenal forever. Many machines have come and gone but still have my MXT because it plain flat works. Hell I talked my good buddy Tabman into getting one cause I like to make hom spend money and his wife will probably kill me one day but I think he's very happy. I have never felt I was lacking when out with my mxt like other machines I have ran. Combine the mxt with the 6 x 8 sef coil and all I can say is wow.

Love that 8x6 SEF on my MXT Pro. That's the coil I use the most.

I got a 13 inch Detech for it about 6 months ago.....that coil is a deep seeking silver coin finder and separates extremely well for a bigger coil.

I am with the bunch that says the MXT would never leave the arsenal. Just a flat out awesome unit and super easy to set up and use.

Yes MXT is hall of famer status..Thank Dave Johnson for that..

Built like a tank..Rugged...Deep ...Tone break...Mixed mode...hot on silver and brass and lead.

I like the 6x8 and the 10x12...that's all you need ..those two coils..

I love the analog knobs coupled to digital world...I like turning up the sens slowly and listening to the unit reprogram/realigns parameters as you go up..I call it changing gears (5 speed)everytime you hit that spot of the control you here it burp..with those two coils I mentioned earlier I can run in 5th gear about everywhere!!!

For those who don't know if you can run your disc at below 2 like 1.9 or 1.8 it will give it a boost mode in the circuitry..it can get tricky below 2 as nails like to break at 2 but on certain sites with small iron you can inch it back and kick in some juice..

What would I change??Add manual ground balance ability..

Keith..

Keith, you summed it up perfectly, my thoughts exactly, right down to the manual ground balance. But at least the auto tracking works so well and locks too.

You mentioned the 10x12. I also have this coil for my MXT as well as the 13" Ultimate, and to me, it's a tossup between the 10x12 and the 13", they are both good coils, although the 10x12 might be a smidge better separating at depth. I'd love to hear you expound on the virtues of the 10x12 on the MXT.

Using that coil I found a 10" deep V-nickel in the main part of a hunted out old park. It was a deep whisper that was repeatable and gave a consistent VDI number bouncing around between 10-20. That nickel probably had 1,000 detector sweeps over it by the time the MXT and the 10x12 found it. Many other similar stories. It even matched the depth of my CTX most of the time. Compared to my V3i, it gives 95% of the capability for 5% of the complexity. Hall of Famer indeed!

Sod obviously took Keith's question the wrong way and is probably now very embarrassed. He had some good comments on the MXT that were lost in the hullabaloo. I actually like the ergonomics and balance of the MXT and love the rugged metal case compared to the flimsy plastic of the F75. And it's my understanding that the MXS and MX7 were based off the MXT design and share much the same "DNA."

That said, X7! ...just for good measure.

No I am not embarrassed in the least.
My original response was conditionalized using the word if.
I deleted it.

X8,unlike you guys, that bought Apple when it came out, I usually buy machines 5 to 6 years after they come out, so all the old news is helpful, I'm now just learning the Etrac and the Excalibur, and still run a XLT and AT Pro, the new stuff you guys talk about, I won't live long enought to try out, his web site is good, reminds me of the Coinist site, way back when, I like info, you can share it with just about any machine, I always wanted to try a MXT, I live close to the beach

‘Sod off”

A British expression, I forget what it means - I heard it long ago....somewhere in Arabia about 1978.

Let’s keep this as polite as possible - we all have so few friends who understand our peculiar passions!

Keith has been here for years - thoughtful, helpful, constant.

Us newcomers - whatever current “nom de Guerre” we chose for the moment should give that a bit of slack.

Just my opinion - and opinions are like ..... everybody’s got one and nobody wants to hear it!

Had a foot of snow dumped for 12 hours yesterday and 37 degrees today with mid 50s predicted every day for a week.
