Lousy visibility of cellphone screens in sunlight

Very high power consumption of metal Detectors vs. phones means battery life would be drastically reduced. You would need to put the detector transmit/receive unit in the coil, like Deus does.

A couple of reasons why it will not compete.

That was 90% an advertisement/intro. lol

Unless the detector is worth the poop...no no chance. I can see XP enabling feature control with a smartphone app in the future for those that don't want to spring for the remote. I don't see it as a standard config. Much easier to support a specific remote hardware. Besides who wants to take their $800 smartphone out in the dirt. plus if you use gloves that sucks to make changes.

I'm not saying it won't happen but the market is a very small niche in an already small industry.

I think XP have the patent on wireless coils maybe it will never get released unless XP only hold the patent on NON bluetooth wireless coils.

Then the power engineers and all the rest would have to pay for patents ...
