Equinox Gold Mode 2
February 19, 2018 08:46PM
I’m reading the manual again and I come across a line in the Gold Mode 2 section that seems to imply that
lowering the Recovery Speed increases depth which I already knew but also increases ground noise?
I would like to hear some input on this. I’m snowed in and can’t test it myself..
I’m thinking the Iron Bias also might have an effect on ground noise too.

On a side note it seems this Gold 2 Mode might be a good tool for you Relic hunters out there looking for
deep targets in bad soil. It comes across as real powerful and is designed for bad ground. Has VID too..

Anytime you slow the sweep/recovery you arent filtering as much and hearing more minerals and weak signals.

I guess I wasn’t thinking of Recovery Speed as a filter.
Thanks..

Just like adjustable SAT. I'ts a re-tuning or sorts. That PP is pretty deep too.

This is not a gold mode story per se. In my ground deep nickel park 2 sounds real good speed setting 4, can hear in speed setting 5 (iron bias 0 in all speed settings).
Speed setting 3 chops the signal. Level 2 signal is gone, maybe a hiccup every4th swing over. Level 1 good luck hearing anything at all.

Auto GB done on all comparing. Multi freq.

Just checked this same deep nickel using gold modes 1 and 2.
Gold modes behave almost identical to park 2, meaning speed levels 4 and 5 give signal, the rest either shoddy or none at all.

Now if we reduce target size by a wide margin, we might see different results comparing park2 and the gold modes. Or maybe my soil is not hot enough.

Is that nickel an in the clear target? Adjusting your sweep speed should make up for changing the setting and still give a hit unless there is some masking going on. One reason I will always choose to hear iron when hunting.

Well, it is pretty clear target, btw, don't want to bring Deus in here, but I've checked it a gazillion times around here even on freshly buried in the middle of clean field, it does this too- at lower(est) reactivity (speed) targets are either chopped or can't hear at all or turn iron tone.

Unusual. Opposite reaction of expectations.

I'm with you an that one tn.

When I first got my CZ6a way back in the day, I hunted in disc setting 1. After learning that my CZ loved deep iron and the signal would wrap and deep iron ( and shallow rusty iron) would high tone false, and being in setting 1, not hearing the low tone, I always hunt in setting 0 now and want to hear all targets...iron included.

I know it can get really busy in the ears when hunting iron laden areas but I am so used to it now it does not bother me.

Adjustable iron audio is a great tool in these iron infested environs, not only does it reduce audio fatigue, but you can still hear the iron and anything hiding within the iron squeeks out with a more noticeable alert.

Learned that on the CZ-5. the only way to hunt regardless of whether the site is a field or park. Almost 100% effective on determining deep silver vs iron falsing when working the target. Some use it with PP location to determine iron but never had to in my case.
