Lucky 19 in the Field 2 Mode
February 22, 2018 10:41PM
I only hunt old colonial homesites. The fields have always produced. Very little modern trash but a ton of iron. I have dug 6 signals that registered 19 on The Changer. 3 coin sized flat buttons and three Indian Head Pennies. Today I added an early Barber Dime and another Indian. My first phase is to remove all high conductors 19 and up in 2 tone. I will then go back in 5 tone to see what comes up. Very fast recovery in iron. Dug zero iron and trash. Still the balance of the detector does not favor me.

Sounds like the Changer is sniffing out some finds for you George.
Thanks for sharing.
Learned something today.
Never had heard of a colonial barber dime. Lol

Threw it in the pond. The same thing we did when we found Union Breast Plates while looking for Confederate. They skip real nice.

GPS coordinates of said pond, woodwhiphustler? winking smiley

Seriously, though, that 19 Barber dime is interesting...anything else in the hole that you know of, to have it reading that low?

The Barber rang up at 22 I believe with iron all around it.. Only the coin sized brass flat buttons and the Indian Heads ( not fatties) hit at 19.

OH, Ok, my bad. I misread your post. Now I see. You were clear. I didn't read it right.

22 still low, but with iron around, makes sense.

You like the machine, in iron? Or too early to tell yet?

Loving it in Field 2 using 2 tones. The guy in England did a video that shows a way to tell iron using Field two checking for deep targets. We all sweep over a target in different directions. Look for a consistent TDI. If you do not see one switch to 10khz. I f the numbers jump into the 20's it should be iron. This is for telling deep targets not shallow. It works when I tested this yesterday.

Interesting tip. Thanks for that. Makes some sense...not entirely different than the "rusty bottle cap ID" trick TNSS mentioned...which I have tried and it does work.

I tried that day before yesterday.
17 ID one way, 23 the other. On sweep direction where 23 was in the meter, tone was stuttered (compromised some what).
Switched to 10khz id ran into 20s.
I dug anyway, deep button, my deepest nonferrous find to date 10.5 " deep approximately.
In AM on the edges iron tone present in signal as coil would come off of center on button when sweeping from various directions. Iron tone sound not brash sounding though. Like what a user usually hears on iron.
