Why I'm liking the Equinox 800(4 -First )

Ok.. before I get hate mail.. here me out! I know a lot of people are over the Equinox lovers, But heres my take on why its improving my finds.
And I can sum it up in one word..

Ratios!

My Nickel find rate has shot up 800% since getting this detector. It simply slams, nickel AND gold.......unlike any machine I've ever used. On top of that I pulled my oldest nickel to date.... a V nickel at a pounded park!


Now... Heres why I'm liking it.

Speed:
Its recovery speed is very fast.
Weight:
Compared to my Etrac? A feather
Ratios!
My ratio of coins and finding Nickels (For some reason the Equinox ABSOLUTELY slams low conductors!
Waterproof: Self explanatory

On top of those points the battery life is long, headphones work great and I love the bluetooth use While using the headphones.

What Records?

1)Most wheats dug at one site in one day......8
2)Oldest Nickle Dug----V Nickle worn badly can't get a date
3)Most Nickles dug at one site in one day....9
4) My first GOLD RING EVER!

Nice Finds. You never dug a V-Nickel before?

Good on you.

On your"first gold ring ever" would you attribute it to:
1.Thinking it was something else
2.IDing it as gold
3.Putting your detector over it
4.Other

Never! To be honest before I got the Equinox all I would dig was trash thinking it was Nickles with my deus etc.

The Equinox hits them “Louder” or “harder” at depth. The V Nickel was 6 inches down, solid 12 or 13...... but it would stay 12—2 or 3 sweeps.
Rock solid!

Having never dug a single Gold target.... it was a slamming 12—5 inches deep, so I thought I had an old nickle! Right next to home plate on an old baseball field long abandoned.

I was jumping up and down like a kid when I saw the clump of gold!

One thing for sure.. when it hit 12 on the gold it hardly left every sweep.

CONGRATS!!!! Whether or not you knew it was gold under coil is beside the point. The point is the NOX will hit small gold and deep gold that some other machines cant.... CONGRATS!!! BTW I have never found a gold coin or gold ring.

Sorry,but the Point is/was did the Nox identify the target as gold,trash/coin. The Nox May hit small gold and deep gold as well may other detectors---This is a Learning forum,so how a new detector reports on a target as desirable as gold IS THE POINT.

Funny question, Harold! Not everybody's dug a V nickel (yet). I didn't dig one until last winter, and have only found one more since. I have a few Barber dimes and quarters but the Vs have been tough.
Heck, before I found my first V nickel, I had found a $5 gold piece (set in a gold ring), a 2 cent piece, two trimes, a seated dime and a Capped Bust half-dime. Oh, and an eagle cent.
Vs ain't easy!

Funny world Wayne!----Between my wife & I and over a span of 16 years, we have found 18 "V" nickels.----Neither one of us have found a gold coin, 2 cent piece, trime, Capped Bust half dime, or flying eagle (flying napkin) cent though.----Guess it depends on the area(s) you hunt.-----The two coin types I would (still) most like to find is a gold coin (anything) and a Capped Bust (anything)! -----At 79 yrs. old, that probably isn't going to happen---but---I'm still "ah lookin"!---------Del

Nox is a nickel killer for sure.

So much so lots of times even running 50 tones with modern junk around, the signals the nickels provide jump out at you.

There is no telling in the next year how many nickels will be had by Nox users.
And incidental gold ring finds also.

Thanks TNSS.. your and many others saying it’s excellant on Nickles will mean and I have confirmed gold will be much more prevelant.

I’m going to test the ring against other detectors to see how it reads. Gold/Nickle compression is a good thing in my book.

Its crazy how finds run. You can go decades without getting a specific find then quickly get maybe 3 of them then not another or start hitting them regularly. I say random is lumpy. Anyway, Congrats! As I understand it gold jewelry most commonly hit between 1 and 12 (and can slop over either side a bit and almost all the way up the scale high on a big honker). Most people don't/won't dig low conductor signals because of foil and other trash making up a huge percentage of finds in that range. Oh, how the Nox love slaw and micro foil! But when we learn to read the audio, I think the finds are really going to be impressive.
