I too would like a fully adjustable handle / arm cuff system and shaft without wobble. I say this generally because I dont have an Nox, but have had problems with weight /balance /handle angle on other machines. Does the Nox have volume control?.... I prefer this also. For a metal detector to be able to fit anyone, any size would be nice. Thanks

Sorry TNSHARPSHOOTER,

You're a bit early on this for me. I received my 800 in late March. Still getting to know it. I JUST GOT MY WATERPROOF MINELAB (KOSS) HEADPHONES so I can get in the water. I still don't have the 6" coil. I'd like to have a full picture before I present a list of "need to have's" for the next generation of Equinox.

What we are asking for is the version they are working on now to replace the etrac/ctx

What would i like to see on the current one?

Expand vdi #s
Video showing us how to replace the battery that doesn't break warranty

Thats it. The machine is fine otherwise. Ive got the 600 and dont need other settings for the beach. I would love an all metal beach mode but know that isnt coming. I solved my water proof headphone issue by making a pair for $20, so that issue is solved for me. They need to just make a version with waterproof headphones for us beach guys

Sorry.
You're a bit late to the party.

TNSHARPSHOOTER,

You're right about being late to the party, couldn't be helped. I ordered my 800 on September 21st from my longtime Minelab dealer (Not K-co). Would probably still be waiting if I hadn't cancelled my order and switched to another dealer. Rollout of the equinox was a cluster . . . . .

Somewhere down the road I'll have some opinions with substance about the 800. Best of luck to you out there .

Minelab folks are reading forums.
Any worthwhile recommendations by any folks could indeed be considered and implemented. Equinox is updatable. So Minelab could indeed be gathering ideas from folks for future changes/updates to Equinox or even another new future model they are working on.

Nokta/Makro sure do do this.

Put the battery under the arm cup where it belongs.

Have digital depth readout in pinpoint.

Have a true all metal mode.

Do not include headphones.

Lets face it ...... most machines are nose heavy with the extended shaft...... just the nature of the beast, even a light one like the Nox. In the water thou .... she stays down and moves pretty well.

Little more tweaking of Beach 1...... i believe it has the greatest potential of finding more gold in the wet sand where i think more gold is hidden.

I to would like either expanded digits giving us better separation in the lower digits.

I like the shaft...... but only as a travel shaft.

I believe with we need more than just the 3 coils. I know the Raw gold hunters agree. Funny im asking for this when we dont have but the one.

As a water guy thou...... honestly it pretty well was a good replacement for the Xcal as a wader. They made it lighter for us, no knobs or seals so i dont see nearly the repair costs, great warranty over the 1 year, same headphones ... ugh, but they did give us a shaft we could travel with, a TID screen that you can use at night if you like and can see during the day..... what else did we want? I think i would have liked to had the Xcals PPing...... that might have gotten interesting.

Oh man an option with no headphones that was $75-$100 cheaper would be awesome!

No matter the brand or model...none are perfect. If Minelab or Makro would have waited for perfection before releasing a product, it just would never be released. The low price of the Nox would imply......lacking bells and whistles. However, I think some were expecting perfection from Minelab because of the slow trickle rate that the Nox was attained. Kinda imagined Minelab engineers scrambling to fix buggy programs and therefore the slow final product release. Reality...still not perfect, but a great value overall. This is just the beginning,,,,,a work in progress. Even if the next updated model was slightly higher cost, it would sell.

There's a similar topic been running on a UK forum I use:

The post about the 'speed' and 'iron bias' settings being different between the 600 & 800 was interesting.

Add Etrac depth meter (it actually works)
Fix hyper sensitive coil issues over shallow targets (There’s one target Minelab not 4!) lol
Hire more than one guy to build coils, water Proof head phones, accessories etc
Add a user button to switch to multi /conductive

The very best thing about the Equinox is not what it is or what it does, but what it represents.

An attempt to push the boundaries of current technology - and offering it at a market busting price level.

If Minelab doesn’t promptly follow up on the bold move that they have made, others might.

Agreed Rick. The new Minelab Tech is good for the consumer, no matter if you have the Nox or not. This will push other detector brands to bring more to the table to be competitive. We win. Love it.

I'd like a 2 tone pitch/vco mode for land use, with adjustable iron tone break.

How to make the Nox better? Simply release firmware updates to address the list of bugs that has accumulated. Minelab could do this relatively quickly and at little cost, providing considerable benefit to early adopters.

So that's why it has been reported that the Nox hits a lot harder on low conductors than it does on high conductors.

I agree with earthmansurfer - implement a long hold on the change mode button to shift left instead of having to "go around the world" when you want to move back one mode. Would be an easy change as its only a software update.

"So that's why it's been reported that the Nox hits a lot harder on low conductors than high conductors"

I'm sure it's a significant factor. ML did state (somewhere) the Equinox would be slightly less 'hot' on high-conductors when compared to BBS/FBS machines. That's 7.8kHz (lowest Equinox) vs. 3.125kHz (lowest BBS)

I'd like a few more user modes for quick easy access, I could use one for bottle caps, one for coke etc etc
