" so so crowded
"there's too many ahead of me
they all try to get in front of me
I thought I could drive a clear road ahead
but I found stoplights instead".

" so so crowded
"there's too many ahead of me
they all try to get in front of me
I thought I could buy one at retail
but I found prices unbelievable".

I don't understand why some guys think they are the self appointed elite of this hobby, just because they scooped up easy targets with a BFO fifty years ago. You might have been first; but, that doesn't mean you can't learn from others.

Other than the fundamentals of detecting, your experience with a BFO is meaningless today. You graduated to a 100kHz beep and dig TR machine in the early 70s you say? Well, good for you but that experience is also largely irrelevant. You then went on to a discriminating TR VLF in the late 70s? Congratulations; however, the ability to keep an analog machine in tune is also largely irrelevant today.

Metal detecting is a skill that can be mastered in far less than a human lifetime. Years of "tenure" does not strictly correlate to skill level. Some people are quick learners. Other people keep making the same mistakes year after year. There's a difference between 20 years of experience and one year of experience relived 20 times.

Anyway, I hope we can all get along and learn from each other in a civil fashion.

Actually you tube has leveled the playing field.
Think about it.

So has detector technology.

I mean how many different ways to run say an Etrac? Not many really.
Or a Makro Racer?

These folks know and see what's happening.
Just won't admit.
Like a cat with their claws dug in and won't turn loose.

Too bad.

You know I have been communicated with as far as my Equinox experiences/reporting.
By a few real educated, intelligent, wise and yes these folks are detectorist.

These folks sure didn't just write me off.
They reached out.

This is what is supposed to happen.

What Bayard and TNSS said.

Like most other things, advances in technology has shortened the learning curve tremendously.

Yes that can go both ways too.
All us 'old timers' are not idiots who can not operate a single button pinpointer as 'thee'HunterGT stated.
I am actually typing this on a smartphone. Hard to believe but true. I actually own an Etrac. Its not the New Kid in town Nox but it's digital. And for the record I have never used a BFO or TR disc. Detector in My life.

If you were to push those reading spectacles a bit closer to your failing eyes...you would have seen that I never lumped everybody in that category. I surely don't think ALL my elders are idiots Harold. Just certain ones. grinning smiley

I could care less about the polished video and theatrics. I watch the videos to learn. Take Keith Southerns videos...
Not flashy at all but hold a wealth of information about various machines.
