Equinox 600 headphone adapter?
April 11, 2018 02:10PM
The headphones that come with the Equinox 600 are crap.

I would like to use my Gray Ghosts.

Will a 1/4" female to 1/8" male adapter work on this machine? I want to make sure before I buy one.

This is the one I was thinking of getting.

Thanks, that's very helpful.

I would have bought the wrong one.

Let us know if you get this to work. I could not.

I have GG NDT phones. I made my own 1/8 - 1/4" adapter (being a retired engineer and ham radio operator). It didn't work. Assuming something was wrong with the adapter wiring, I took a second cord for the GG and cut the 1/4" plug off and put a 1/8" plug on. Still didn't work. There was a strange "clicking" noise coming from my Nox 600.

I've come to the conclusion that the Nox is designed to work with low impedance phones. The Philips SHP1900 that comes with the Nox 600 are 32 Ohms. The Gray Ghost is 150 Ohm.

I tried some other phones and they all worked, including a 100 Ohm.

I'll keep that in mind. The impedance might be a factor. I'll probably end up getting some Bluetooths anyway but haven't decided what to get yet. I thought the adapter might be a quick fix in the meantime.

Understand. When I had the V3i, I got addicted to wireless headphones too. I got the Z-Link system for my MXT. Could not see putting that on the 600, since it has built in bluetooth.

So I got Avantree Audition Pro from Amazon, and they paired and work great.

I bought this one for my White's Pro Star on the Equinox 800 and it works well.

Yeah, those look nice. Good reviews too. I might get them.
