New Fisher Manta

Hi,
new outings with Aquamanta

3 days to the beach,
a lot of lead, copper and stainless
for those who think that I only dig gold



a little money, including a Dardenne denier
struck between 1709 and 1712 with copper, from reformed cannon

and some rings, only two gold
the big 18k 16gr more than 40 cm with a clean sound
the small 18k / 1.2gr is about 30cm
in a compact sand, a very fine sound / the perfect sound that stretches and symmetrical

an aluminum zipper / box of coca / gives a shorter sound
the audio curve on the aluminum drops more brutally than on the gold

40cm = about 15-3/4" ....that's a honker of a ring

15" doesn't sound ultra deep for the beach, are we saying that an Etrac/CTX/Equinox or Excalibur CZ20/21 couldn't hit such a big ring that deep?

Enjoying your posts LE JAG, not sure I have an application for such a detector though, but it would certainly be fun to test out at our local beaches in California.

Heck I'm just happy to see FTP finally have something tangible in the works we can follow, even if they didn't design it.

never made a test on a big ring
in depth, it's difficult to determine the maximum depth on a big ring
in a very compact sand possible over 20 inches I think
and everything depends on the carat / you have a lot of 10 and 14 carats
will be easier than the 18 and 22c

one thing is sure
Fisher Aquamanta is deeper than the etrac / ctx on small gold rings
even more in a black sand

+ can be a series of tests on the beaches of OREGON
on the side of new port beach / this summer
may be....

it is enough to raise the disk / a double beep in limit of signal = iron

Exactly what I expected to hear about the iron...

This means that the Manta will in fact be the killer machine I expect it top be - hopefully good-bye for ever to those endless beer bottle caps and buried rusty iron bits!

My darned Equinox loves those bottle caps - every one has to be “tickled” to try and break up the signal or dug.

I like that little amethyst gold ring, LE.JAG.

Of course the 16 grams of 18k gold is very nice too. Chinching! That is definitely $400 dollars of US folding money in your pocket when you walk out of the gold buyer's shop right there for just that one ring.

yes, pretty ring and the stone is intact
the amethyst is fragile

we mainly have 18k in France, I do not complain

the signet ring in 925 silver, 12 gr / modern reproduction of old ring
I just looked at the seller's website
exists in gold ... damage, would have made a beautiful triplets
for the next time

for rusty iron / no problem
even in all metals

some, beer cap or a non-ferrous film
by electrolysis or something similar / for that it is more difficult ...

but when we get rid of rusty iron, the hairpin
and when more we easily gain 20 cm
by being more sensitive to the gold by 7us
it's already a big step forward

A hair pin seems to be my gauge for water hunting....... barely knocking them out really dismisses a lot of iron. Just curious if you know what amount of disc is required or the Us needed to do that? How close to small gold is a hair pin...... or is it to much disc? That amount of lead......... id have to be on the bay. Stuffs so buried right now. It appears you dont have Miller light or Corona caps.........im starting to hate those and the juice foil lol.

At the risk of exposing my ignorance, the iron ID/elimination is not based on phase shift of the return signal (like with IB VLF discriminators) - and so may not have an issue of small gold and small ferrous being “near” each other in terms of the discrimination/ID function.

in the wet sand
you will take a ring 18k 2/3 gr
place under / two hairpins / no problem

or the same ring with an iron nail inside the ring
you have to see it to believe it = soon

cut mode
you only hear the ring
(depending on the rejection setting you can only crack the iron)

multi-tone mode
we hear the iron = low / and the gold ring = acute

Note: You will only get in rejection mode
only on gold and platinum = low conductive


+ again / for beer corks
will be harder / rust / no problem

new, they have a plating put / by electrolysis or rhodium
which is very difficult to cut
and of course, if you push the rejection too much
you risk losing gold

Im looking forward to some more videos...... id like to see it as it progresses. What voltage will it be running...... i know i used to use an AquaSound it was 14khz and ran 12 volts. LOUDEST headphones ive ever had on my head. First time out with it ..... my ears were ringing all night. It boggles my mind that on one forum they seem to think this PI is a pipe dream that will never be produced.

I had repeatedly asked for a louder volume
a lot of diver complains that the sound is too weak underwater

with the Fisher Aquamanta
you should not be disappointed
impossible to set volume / at maximum / out of water
at the risk of losing a tympanum
so under water / he'll snap on the ring

we are also working on a helmet idea
of a new kind
without the usual piezo of waterproof headphones

which would give a better quality audio / underwater
not tested yet and I do not know if it will be ready in time ...

From your comments ........ this isnt just going to be another wading machine. Sounds like you are really going to be able to at least snorkel and dive a bit. I believe i saw a dive mask the other day with speakers in them. Crazy expensive. I know a few here in Fl that snorkel and fan for targets in a bit deeper water than i can now hunt in. Im sure they will be watching not only the machine but headphones or helmet. We have a crafty crew who likes to adapt/mod things for other machines as well. I assume we are going to be able to charge the machine without opening the box?

was one of my ideas / not retained / too expensive to put in place .......

Actually, the proto type was tested in Florida last fall. Did well but needed more work. But I'm very excited and hopeful it is a TDI improvement.

LE JAG, who posts here has said that the current rev of the Manta equals or excels the Famous Aquastar - plus, of course, it offers gold hunting with iron discrimination.

P.S. this is just the start. This machine is a gold magnet for the beach. Changes to various operating parameters can lead to Nugget hunters, relic hunters, deep siler coin hunters,,,,,

There's a lot of brainpower going into this project.

Are we looking at target manipulation where it requires some effort by knob turning and adjusting to get the iron disc? I assume there is a fine line between knocking out iron and gold?

In the Manta 3 prototype shown in various photos, the discrimination is a knob giving variable amounts of discrimination. The discrimination is apparently achieved by moving the point where discrimination is applied to divide low conductors from high ones - thus excluding most iron.

How this adjustment actually works in the field has not been disclosed in any of the videos and no one except those who have used one of the prototypes really knows.

I'm interested to see what the guys come up with at Fisher. I've gave up hope on the Pulse Devil detector making it to the market. I think the Manta will do what it is intended to do but I also think we will have to adapt to modifying or coming up with new methods of target recovery if it is as deep as the prototypes are said to be. Summer is just beginning but it seems the seasons and years go by faster and faster each year. To me it seems like Christmas was just a few weeks ago and here it is almost June. Fall will be here before I know it.

Daniel, I sent LE JAG links to some of your old posts on GPX usage for relics in bad dirt. They are moving on from the beach machine and the more they understand about the realities of relic hunting in bad dirt, the better their results with “TerraManta” will be.

Been some time since I did any dirt hunting..... but to me I have to ask... just how deep can some targets get? Dont a good many reluc hunter use ..say shoovels? It will be interesting to see whats recovered and WHY.... separation, depth, or even angle.

A while back I watched an old guy from Alaska dig an 18 inch nickel with a GPX 4500, on my local beach. It put a perspective shift on my fixation with super deep machines...

I'd dig 18 inches all day for a gold ring, but zincolns, slaw, etc? If I can't get pretty good disc, I'll need way better pain meds!

there are several parameters that come into play
the beach of rejection / which is quite long
the position of the SAT speed which influences the rejection

then the gold / iron tipping point
which will change according to the carats and the weight of the target
more it will be light with a low carat
the easier it will be to detect it in a multitude of nails
the higher the carat, the more weight will be heavy
the more the tipping point gets closer .........

we will make videos / with the first devices
but the basic settings are pretty easy to handle
after all learns / and we all learn, every day

yes, I think few prospector
are going to use all the power of manta
to dig I have a homemade gamatte / stainless steel 316 / 3mm
with a good spoon effect / for deep targets
and lets not stir too much sand

in France I am lucky to have very old things
Roman coins / see bronze age ...
the hunt has great depth / offers targets that you will never see
except storm of the century
but you really have to be motivated to dig

prepare a good shovel or better a good gamatte
the great depth offers great perspective
but as I said, you have to be motivated
and above all / very well choose / his hunting areas
the ideal tarmac as in this picture
a flat foreshore / compact sand / that does not collapse
and you will hit untouchable targets for others
