Rick....... did i read it correctly somewhere that this will be a 16 dcv machine as opposed to most being 12 dcv? If so thats a lot of power that can be added to the coil. Doesnt the TDI push more power to the coil than most machines? I had an couple of Aqua Sound detectors that Tendall designed....... they ran 24 dcv i believe and were single 14khz freq. Only really good for here in Fl, but had great depth. I dont know if the voltage was also run that hot to the headphones........ but my ears would be ringing for hours after using them. NOW there was a great paid of LOUD phones. I ended up having to use volume controls on them.

The Aquastar used a 16 volts battery and there was a 430 volts pulse to the coil. Since the Manta is based on the Aquastar. It is very possible the Manta is using 16 volts battery too. And perhaps the Manta has even more voltage going to the coil. I tested the Aquastar prototype and was able to recommend improvements that made it a better unit. I sure would like to use my experience and knowledge gained in electronics while working for IBM to be able to test Manta prototype in Honolulu, Hawaii.

If the Beta units are out, FTP would do well to send one to you for input IMO.

I for one am hoping for a very well written manual. There is going to be a learning curve. Its a machine we can grow into hopefully rarther than one thats mastered out of the box. It may allow for a lot of growth. ....so a good manual to me is important.

Hoping that FTP will unveil this at Detectival thumbs down

Could be a few interesting new product announcements at Detectival this weekend.

Ditto on the manual...

Most folks have never used a Pulse Induction detector and could use a good introduction into its peculiarities and operating principles.

The new Fisher PI is the first beach PI to feature a degree of useful iron ID/discrimination - how and when to use this capability will be a big part of making the most of it.

It is for GOLD - it’s ability to find clad and silver coins is dependent on use of the devices controls - best gold yield with iron ID might not be best for silver.

Folks will try and use it on inland sites. The ground balance function on this machine is dedicated to beach use - inland techniques may be something which requires experimentation.

I just got the OK to share this. It’s the Beach test video for the manta with the addition of English captions (upper left of the screen). It helps keep up with the action - assuming you don’t enderstand LE JAG’s French. That is LE JAG by the way, in the video.

It’s on my Dropbox account, set to share. Just click on the link and it will stream, just like as if it was on YouTube.

If I can get organized to do it, I may edit the video down to short clip demos of various key points of the Manta’s operations - we’ll see.

I couldn't get that link to work, but a 'spot of tinkering' gave me this, which does work, (and it's huge, 1.7 Gigabytes? ):

Very very impressive lovely audio that i could work with all day

OK, when I click it, it just Plays + I guess maybe because IT-s my account. I will have to check if it works for anybody else - an almost 2gb downloads is a lot to ask anybody - maybe plan b is called for.

The first few lines of the video state that the video itself is older. I wonder how much the detector has changed. It certainly looks interesting.
Re: New Fisher Manta

Rick - It played for me on my phone using your link. No download required.
Re: New Fisher Manta
October 14, 2018 11:46PM
the detector is much better today
than that of the video
more stable
quieter
and therefore deeper

it is silence that captures the smallest murmurs
who are often the best targets in depths

my last hunts
less than two weeks on the beach

apart from the earring which is probably a loss of the year
all the jewels are old
over 20 years for some / seen depth
and the wedding dates of the rings ...

and I'm sure 80% was untouchable for the other detectors on the market.........

Detector used : Fisher Aquamanta /

Pulsepower Goldscan 5c / Aquastar / Goldquest SSV3 / Nexus Coronado / Vista Gold

This device - like a top of the line nugget detector is apparently capable of harvesting a “non renewable” resource! My advice - buy one as soon as it is available - i know I will.

LE.JAG that's quite impressive thumbs down

I'm not really a beach hunter, but maybe I should be with this thing!
Re: New Fisher Manta
October 15, 2018 03:33AM
LE JAG writes beautiful prose - it's not exactly the same as you or I would write, but if were writing in something other than our native language, we might fracture a word or phrase here or there.

When he does it, it's like a diamond cutter in Rotterdam or Tel Aviv striking the lump of an uncut diamond and revealing the true gem.

Check this out from his above post.... and I quote...

"it is silence that captures the smallest murmurs
who are often the best targets in depths "

The man Is a poet in a language he struggles with.

And BOY do I want the machine he writes so beautifully about!

A beautiful machine = what a concept.

Re: New Fisher Manta

Just curious, has the questioned been asked about detecting silver?
Re: New Fisher Manta
October 15, 2018 04:20AM
Silver will be detected to great depths ---

Just one problem, the high conductor response which iron gives is very close to other high conductors such as 24 kt gold and silver.

If you wan to hunt clad at the beach while ID'ing iron, another machine will probably be more suited. If you want old silver deep, then you will have to do as LE JAG does and then hunt in all metal, listening for what he described ....

"it is silence that captures the smallest murmurs
who are often the best targets in depths "

This machine apparently has a very nice modulated audio signal - on a truly silent base. How deep silver would respond vs. a rusty washer at 12 inches is something which the "Euroteam" which developed this machine haven't (believe) thoroughly explored. France has no recent milled silver coinage and the target for this machine was gold jewelry - mostly 14 and 18 kt in Europe.

Lots to learn...

It is decidedly NOT designed with a focus for general inland use. That does not say that it will not prove useful for that, but specific techniques and control settings to optimize that have not been a focus of the development team as far as I can determine.

Do we have ANY kind of target date on this machine? Here we are with the 15" coil coming out for the Nox ...... Toms new machine..... the TDI....and who knows what else. Last word i seen on here was they were hoping for late fall, but it could be early spring.... has that changed? Long silence isnt a selling point.

of course you can detect silver
in all metals mode
on the last hunts / got many silver ring
and a big chain of 62 gr in 925

but sincerely, gold is more interesting
and there is more under the beaches
that people can imagine

you just need to have the machine able to detect it
and be ready to dig

I do not have a specific date ....
remains to validate the tightness of the system, the rest is ok ...

probably early 2019 "" "probably" ""

Re: New Fisher Manta

They should make both waterproof and non-waterproof versions because most buyers of this machine will not be submerging it. A non-waterproof version would cost a lot less.
Re: New Fisher Manta
October 15, 2018 11:37AM
A lot would depend on what it took to make it waterproof. Next gen. maybe waterproof AND cheaper.

if you have two models
you have to store two different types of pieces
and store two different types of detectors / to meet the demand

multiply that by thousands of units
(thousands of dollars, blocked waiting)

in the end = it is much more expensive
Fisher is the world's largest detector producers
in numbers of units produced / all parameters are to be taken into account ...
Re: New Fisher Manta

Question, I don't know if this has all ready being stated but will existing Tdi or Minelab coils work on the Manta?
Re: New Fisher Manta
October 15, 2018 01:41PM
No information is available. If the TDI (which could use Minelab PI coils) is any guide, operating non original coils may limit performance even if they are physically and electrically compatible. The very short minimum pulse delay will likely not be available with any coils specifically and carefully designed to do so with this detector.

Alexandre spent many years developing coils which outperformed any others on PI beach machines. The Manta’s coil will be the result of all that knowledge and effort. It is quite likely that the coil will be interchangeable, but also likely that the only ones a serious hunter would want are the coils the team produces for the Manta.

It is pretty easy to build coils for PI detectors. Building the very best coils for this specialized beach gold hunter is a challenge.

Rick. Correct. Very tight tolerance coils are a requirement for "highly tuned/minimum pulse delay" specialty units.
You can put regular gas (87 Octane) in a Ferrari …… and the car will sort-of work.
