ha ha ... I hope he keeps that heavy slow turd forever, it's always nice to have an advantage over the competition eye popping smiley

Hmmm...next time he wants me to flag signals, I should just tell him I cannot hear them or wouldn't dig them, he'll believe his turd is ready for the super bowl hot smiley

FYI, Fisher on Facebook posted the same info that was on the Russian website but of course it is in English.

Re: New Fisher Manta

I'm curious to see if this model is mono-coil only. The 'full' Manta design has a special dual-winding coil, to help reduce ground signal pickup. I'm guessing this machine isn't capable of working the 'dual' coil ... and they are unlikely to be supplying the 'dual' coil on a machine that can't exploit it's specific characteristics. How many pins there are on the coil connector may shed some light on the matter.
Re: New Fisher Manta
March 15, 2019 02:19PM
the number of pins could mean absolutely nothing. Most detectors I know of have multi-pin connectors but only use a few of those pins.
Re: New Fisher Manta
March 15, 2019 02:56PM
This could change in the production models, but the battery pack sure looks like a hacked together solution:
Re: New Fisher Manta
March 15, 2019 03:31PM
Here’s a better shot. The connector on the left is the headphone - the one on the right is the power in/out for the battery. The charger connects here (that’s the funky looking cable in the Russian picture). I use, a cable runs from this connector on the battery to the end of the stem, from there internally to the control head. The battery is therefore completely separate and I am assuming that an external battery of higher power could connect to the stem.

Rick ....did I read only 5 hours on the battery? I’d assume that conservative because that depends a lot on targets and settings. I hunt 7 hours....I really hope they change that. Surely if whites can Fisher can. I mean they are already swapping out the TDI battery and INCREASING its power. Lets keep up.
Re: New Fisher Manta

Something I noticed about the original Manta was this:

Connector Type TDI, it accepts all coils (mono) of TDI / GPX

With the strange coil connector this may not be happening anymore on the current AQ?

Also a question, does the AQ have some sort of auto ground balance?

If Fisher builds a nugget version of this machine I sure hope its in the 21 st century with auto ground balance. My main like so far is the 7 usec capability, this would be great in the nugget hunting world.
Re: New Fisher Manta

I’d say if they can make aftermarket coils that work .....just a matter of using a standard lower shaft with the right ID OD.

Quote:"the number of pins could mean absolutely nothing."
What I was meaning was: If this coil only has 2 pins, it means it's a mono-coil, as the dual-winding coil has to have 3, or probably 4 connections.
Re: New Fisher Manta

Hi,

the new cane
is not fair design / she was studying
for better resistance to torsion and different constraints
in order to better support large coils planned for the nugget version
all the tests and simulations prove that it is more resisitant
that standard fixings

the AQ coils are mono
the best performers for the beach
DD would not help / silence is perfect
and iron recognition / superior to all PIs

the coil connector is specific
because of the 7us
has very low delay (7us) standard connectors
low quality generates noise
this one waterproof and a high price for a connector
has been selected only for the 7us ....

the battery is give for 5 hours at full power
then it decreases (everything depends on the power to ask)
and a sound and warning signal warns you to change
have a second spare pack
or can be an option of a bigger (and heavier) pack
consider and under study for the nugget

for the price, everything is relative, I already made $ 2000 gold
in a hunting week
I must not be the only one
and some, do it in a day ...

are you talking about a TDI type dual coil?
this type of coil is not consider, too much noise ...

when has Bipolar technology
it's something else / more efficient
but more complicated to manufacture in series
for a future model

we must take into account
that the 7us asks a lot of work
to be obtained in series
it's not just coaxial cable and a graphite bombshell
for shielding as on a TDI coil

AQ coil requires much more time and workforces
to work at 7us

if it were so easy, the other manufacturers
would have already done ...

you could say,
what differences between 7 us and 10 us

I think the difference will count

Yes, I was referring to the bipolar coil, which I'm thinking will be two coils wound together, so physically will package up like a regular mono-coil, but wil have more electrical connections.
Alexandre did describe the method in this Geotech1 thread:

How does it do with steel bottlecaps?
Re: New Fisher Manta

Surprise - they didn’t design all this in a chickencoop. Alexandre is a talented Physicist who just happened to get fascinated with metal detectors, His is almost unique (sadly) in being a metal detector enthusiast as well as a talented developer.

We will see where this all leads. I expect that now the the cat is out of the bag, FT will no doubt follow up with more information about the project.

funny that. No paradrop, that has never been their style - but now - an official leak!!! They must be pretty confident that this ain’t a “pig in a poke”.

Me, I’m pleased that through a series of happy accidents, I got sight of this back in 2016 or so. Haven’t been this happy since the hogs ate my little brother.

Just FYI, nobody can see posts inside the geotech forum. Side-note, the "lost password" and register links are bad too, so new people cant join.

It dies seem screwed up at the moment - likely to be fixed soon - warning - in between all the cutting edge stuff, there is a lot of weirdness

Alexandre is the developer of the Manta program and therefor the Main Man for the new Fisher Impulse AQ.

I am absolutely delighted to see him posting here.

I suspect that he has a series of treats for us as things progress.
