Jeez, this detector will have folks moving to the coast.....Daydreaming as I type, hmm, Jersey beaches aren't bad...good points - scenery, gold, fishing, salt air, scenery......
Re: New Fisher Manta

Reality check for some of you............ it may not happen even at 20". When we get sanded in...... we can get FEET of sand not inches. Currently theres a lot of sand thats moved in on a good many of the Fl beaches...... we can get large cuts with absolutely NADA in them..... and even this machine may not help. All though ..... it seems iron is always present and the first thing we start finding as an indicator of movement. BUT......its going to be a huge advantage to get this kind of alleged depth when that movement happens. I wouldnt expect its going to have CTX TID either so expect to dig more targets..... just the nature of the beast (PI).

Joe.... when i get mine im moving in next door buddy lol. Thats why the Xcal still has a place in water hunting and has been THE machine for so many years. Everyone now wants to compare machines to the Nox.... in the water thou.... i still think all things are equal and there are advantages to a moded Xcal. If ML would tweak an Xcal to get 4" more ...... they would still be the machine to grab in the water....

Cant wait to see whats pulled with this machine Rick. Will it be a game changer....in some places im sure it will. My one request is people....dont leave your trash in the water for me to dig again..... i hate that.

There ya go Rick.....the way it was ment to read

I wish it would get here for sure, although I'm not sure I can stomach too much more of the cliche "game changer" again. Seems every forum I go to (not all detecting related) is hung up on that phrase to describe anything new.
Re: New Fisher Manta

The challenge of this machine is clear. Fisher says nothing. LE,JAG says it beats the best machines he has used for depth and general results on gold jewelry - and he has tried about all of them extensively.

Folks like OBN would stand in line for one apparently (mind you - fisher is not into lines - when they build something, they typically go “all in”).

the clock ticks. Little drips and drabs of info emerge - talk of continued software refinement prior to final field testing .......

No parachutes, no hype, just folks who are serious about one thing - finding gold jewelry at the beach waiting and figuring out how much they can get for their old gear. Lol

No need to be jealous, Single, retired, Very Blessed to live near water and hoping to be a "AQ" owner someday.

One thing very interesting about the photo........most of the heavy gold rings took a nose dive, which I am thinking the lighter gold rings do also when in sand.

Hoping the "AQ" will be strong and awaken some of these once we start getting it wet.

20" on a nickel in AM......... 17" on a nickel in disc..... so it does loose depth of about 20%? How were these tests conducted.... wet or dry sand? Yes Rick im a skeptic ive not heard this from Fisher. Carl..... what say you? Are we talking found nickel at 20" or a controlled test..... or guest-a-ment? Based on photos of his wet sand .... vs mine we are talking 2' here...... if it sounds to good to be true.... well... in this case im from Missouri. Could be he has mad skills..... or the machine is just that good. Thus far JAG seems to be pretty up front about what it may or may not find. About the same small gold as the Nox ..... and could be difficult to find 24K gold in disc. Finds.... well thats often a product of not only the machine and the man, but conditions, location and research. Im getting some awfully high expectations.....

Salt wet sand for US nickel :

IN ALL METAL MODE 17'' without noise at 7µs with a maximum ferrous discrimination

IN TONE MODE 17'' without noise at 7µs with a maximum ferrous discrimination

IN MUTE MODE 17'' without noise at 7µs with a maximum ferrous discrimination

With fast or slow SAT speed setting...

If the competition is better I pay them a tray of strawberries... grinning smiley (with a fast swing without noise)

How can you dig a 20" deep hole in the wet sand when it keeps trying to take itself to level? the diameter would end up being + - 5 feet.

Yeah agreed. That phrase like so many catch phrases has gotten to be over used & irritating.

It can be accurately tested without digging a huge hole. I am curious for those of you who have an AquaStar (Tom) or one of those super expensive and deep MLs PIs.....what can you get in the wet sand on a nickel? Are we indeed looking at a game changer? Sooo did the update get us that extra 3"? Thats pretty significant depth when a couple of inches can really make a difference on TID. Another thing ive noticed....... have we seen any rings with stones?

Dew, I love the way you keep pushing the "??" We can slowly see them giving up the info..

On the lack of stone rings, just a guess. Stoned rings are not as popular in some country's. Just like Higher "K" is popular in others. In the USA they love adding that extra profit on the stones.

Down the road it will be interesting to see a video from detector comparison (Carter Pennington) on the TDI..n "AQ"

You know im interested in this machine just like you Joe...... somebody has to be BAD COP i guess. Obviously that could be correct Joe........ but we need to know how it will react to those with stones........ or even a cross.... they both can be iffy with a little depth or angle..... parachuted into the side of a bank. I know i know........ we will find out once we BUY one....but is that the time to find out? Look at the update needed by ML for the Nox on silver on edge...... cant just plug this one in and update it. Whats the American tester finds showing..... how about a sneak peak..... video time. To me .... its good marketing to keep this thread going...... look what ML gained with the Nox. MOST ALL detector sales came to a grinding halt.

you made a mistake
the depth loss between the mode
all metals / rejection
it's on gold only on gold

it is a detector to optimize for gold
not on nickel (actually copper nickel alloy ...)

the market targeted by Fisher Impulse, is global
that's gold diggers ........

The test was on wet sand
nickel set up for the test
according to the beach conditions
compact sand / aerated sand
salt rate / well on the performance changes

17 inches without problem
I say: on a nickel in place for several years
compact sand (wet) will probably be 20
if I can do it, why not you .......
Re: New Fisher Manta
May 07, 2019 05:39PM
So..... are you saying there is NO depth loss between AM and disc on gold rings? I apologize for asking more questions im just not completely understanding you ..... my bad. So you did or didnt use a US nickel? So the 20" is a guess-ta-ment based on what you got in disturbed sand? I hope you are right in your belief if you can do it i can lol. Thats pretty staggering depth...... ive been using a VLF to long i guess. Some one said ..... that will be hard to dig a gold ring at 20" in the wash (oat meal) ....... i said ya well if i can tell its not iron and anywhere close to gold...... watch me dig that 5' hole. Now...... how about gold rings with stones or those crosses i asked about..... have you found or tested any?

Dew-I have a test garden of nickels buried at the Great Salt Lake close to the waters edge (mega salt conditions, no black sand) they are buried at 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 inches. With my GPX 11' DD coil I can get the 16, with my 14" DD I can get the 18 easily. Down the road a bit at another beach that is close to the mountain the beach has black sand and mega salt. At that beach I'm limited to 14" on a nickel with the 14" coil because I have to run salt timings to keep it quiet. I can get the 18" running normal timing but it's not practical to hunt in normal, too much noise. The drawback with the GPX is iron disc only works to about 6 inches. However, I've used one long enough that I dig very little iron, there are ways to tell it.

So I won't be buying one of the new Fisher machines until people have them in their hands and have been tested against other PI's. Also, since I'm a relic hunter, I want a machine that will do beach and relic hunting and it doesn't sound like the Fisher will do both yet.

Abenson.... there are obviously things he could do better on that test. But...... that TDI could get awfully close to taking Alexandres strawberries lol. Serious thou...... we are talking some deep depth here in the wet sand..... AND disc..... which i hope is easily used...... none of that hee haw stuff.
Re: New Fisher Manta
May 07, 2019 06:52PM
Sorry Dew, no strawberries for you.

The one I played with in San Diego hit the nickel at 17 - 18” in black sand like a gong - the strong sound emerging from dead silence - in discrim or all metal.

In the test you link to, the poor TDI with GB off gave a little lost kitten mew barely distinguishable from ground noise on the 18” nickel

And, of course, LE.JAG now says the latest software improves the depth.

Re: New Fisher Manta
May 07, 2019 07:59PM
Dew-Yes I've seen that video, I've owned 4 TDI's and run them through my test garden. The best I could get with GB off was 14 inches at the salt only beach and 10 inches at the black sand beach. So the GPX is inches deeper when set up correctly. Digging a 17 inch hole in wet sand is no easy task, I don't think people who use the low powered PI's/VLF's know what they are getting into when they dig a 17 inch hole in the surf or wet sand. May have felt like 17 inches but I bet it was only in the 8-10 inch range, no way of knowing really. (i'm sure you know all that) When I visit Southern Cal I never use my GPX, just my Equinox because it's just too hard to recover really deep stuff in the wet sand.

you're right, digging soft sand
at over 15 inches is a foolishness

that's why I'm talking about compact sand
that of the video, is not hard enough for me yet

also for that reason that I use a homemade gamate
stainless steel A4 // 3MM
that of the trade are not strong enough

it's really deep-sea hunting
the detector itself is not enough
it takes a specific tool to dig at this depth
and the method to choose the areas to hunt ....

this video is a good example
a harder sand would have been even better
apart from the tdi
they are low voltage (12 volts)
with delay at 11 / 12us at the mini

your baseline on depth
is based on the BBS / VLF let's go up to 14.4 volts TDI

Our reference is: deepstar 3 / aquastar / goldscan 5c
all 3 are already deeper than TDI
at this depth, a long time ago
that the BBS / VLF are obsolete ...

we are more sensitive (7us)
and deeper than our 3 basic reference

so yes, 17 inches is easy ...
and again yes, you are going to give up targets
many, which will be too deep for you ....

+ rings with stones
or pierced metal / braiding
are not a problem / the 7 us is the most sensitive
tested yesterday a crucified 0.8gr 18k
detect on sand wet / always the 12.5 inches .....

and for pleasure
a signet ring 19gr / 18k
she is posing on a huge and old net lead
both within one meter of distance
and about 20 inches deep ..........

I'm sure you have already walked
on many rings of this type
that your detectors are unable to hear

soon you will be able,
but it will be necessary to dig to find them! smileys with beer

Going to be some time before VLFs are obsolete on the beach.....especially against a PI as a total beach machine. Recent drop time .....you best not grab a PI....iron beaches you best not grab a PI....and not a lot of them used in the dry sand. More VLFs still used for shallow dives as well. Looks like that leaves wet sand and wading depending on conditions. Will this machine change that..... might ...but the price....

with the performance obtained in the iron
even at $ 5000 you would be buying

it will only be 180 gr of 18K
many of us can do this in a month
and other in a day / the world is vast
and there are many beaches filled with gold !

I can not say anything anymore
without being banged, on the fingers...

just this:
if I told you / what he could really do
you could not believe it / have not seen it
and if you were in my place / I would not believe you

imagine the impossible / a beach full of iron
that you consider impossible to prospect
with a bbs / vlf = too much noise too much cut

he will do it / and in silence
he will find you gold

yes I know
the wait is long...........

A BBS...... VLF.... noisy in iron??? Have you used an Xcal in PP mode? Iron hasnt been a noise issue .. its been a recovery speed/deep target ID, issue for VLF. AND you are now trying to lead us to believe the AQ is going to disc iron BETTER than a VLF??? I look forward to using a quiet machine...... but the MDT is pretty darn quiet.

I wouldnt buy one for that price nor would most of us average beach hunters. That much gold in a month....... ill have what you are smoking. Almost no one i know makes $60,000 a year on the beach ..... well unless they are appraising their own stuff...... and you were talking MELT value. Those kind of statements dont do much for your credibility IMO. This is a hobby..... very few make a living at it here in the states. Most make less than that in a year melt. MOST.... would be happy to double or at least increase their gold finds. Joe (ole beach nut) how much would you say you had in melt for last years finds? You had to be joking or day dreaming with that post. Maybe thats why we MAY see the machine by Christmas...... lofty goals arent easily being met.
