Just curious.... anyone care to comment regarding the battery life of the Equinox 800 ???

How about the WM 08 blue tooth audio module ???

Inquiring minds want to know.

I usually do 4 to 5 hours hunts and I don't think I've ever seen it display less than a full charge.

I've never used the module.

After a few deep-cycles of the new battery...…… it should stabilize around 11.5-hours of run-time...…… as long as you are not a heavy user of the night light nor heavy use of the pinpoint function.

Battery life of the eqx is very good as others have pointed out. Having said that the batteries power will slowly get worse over time. Minelab is supposed to release a video on changing the battery though

What do you mean by deep cycle? Does that mean running that battery all the way down?

I always thought you weren't supposed to do that with lithium batteries. I read somewhere that lithiums like to kept at full charge as much as possible.

I've been charging mine after each use, even for short hunts.

Here's a link from Newark Electronics who posted Tektonix's ( best O scope in the world ) link on Lithium Ion battery care.
Its a PDF, save it for future reference.

Lithium Ion has its own specific guidelines for care and maintenance and it differs from other rechargeable batteries.

Not sure on the exact difference in care but isn't the EQX battery Li-Po(lithium polymer)?

Liths like a 40 to 80% charge more than a full charge. Manual says 12 hours....... but obviously how you hunt may change that....... disc, light, targets in the area, pp mode use.... even heat. 7 hours running even with the back light on about 2 of those hours and i still leave the beach at about half charge. The real question to me is ...... how many cycles will we get before we need to replace it?

Its actually Lithium Ion according to my 800 manual.

No real tests. But doesn't seem to run down that fast--I use it several sessions before recharging. Don't think battery life is anything to worry about.

It appears to be a six month warranty on batteries which will be covered by the life span so any issues will be on the owners dime.

Firstly, no...I believe it's a 25650 Li-ion.

Secondly, even if it were...lithium polymer (Li-Po) is essentially the same chemistry as lithium-ion.
Both systems use identical cathode and anode material and contain a similar amount of electrolyte...one liquid, the other liquid gel.
(So you basically treat them the same.)

As far as battery life goes, I've done two 5+ hrs hunts on one charge and still had a little life left in both devices.
(At least neither device died...and that's with some back-light usage.)

So, it is probably better, for the health of the EQ battery, to use the detector for several short hunts (2 to 4 hours) before charging the battery, than to charge the battery after every use. Right?

Any estimate as to how much shorter the life of the battery will be due to charging after every 4 or 5 hours of use?

Im guessing the question is meant, battery life per charge. What about long term life.....how many charges before the battery would have to be replaced and at what cost?? Is it a specific Minelab battery that has to be special ordered? Perhaps later aftermarket batteries.

Thanks Mike, this is the type of info I've been waiting to hear from users.

There have been few posts here and on the other forms related to real charge times, battery life, failures, long term storage, maintenance and total battery life.

ML has no recommendations for battery discharge limit but only long term storage recommendations.
