Traditional single frequency detectors are a dime a dozen. In some environments they excel. Multifrequency VLF IB machines handle the ground differently and ground balance is not especially sensitive. Nice. The Nox is the first multifreaker to have a fast processor, to be optimized for low conductors and be relatively light and affordable. No wonder it sells like hot cakes.
In a year or two we will see how it compares to new machines from other makers. Already, some specialists like relic hunters find other machines preferable. Meanwhile ML will sell boatloads of Nox’s. As the number of folks on various forums who have them grows, so will a database of results and overall reliability. So far, it’s pretty mixed. The shaft is pretty much agreed to be minimal or worse, ditto the headphones. Black screen of death and flooding have been reported, along with inoperative buttons. Again, by next spring we will know if these are isolated incidents or an issue.
Meanwhile - it’s summer - get in there in the heat, ticks, - whatever and prove to yourself what your Nox is worth to YOU.
Me, i have pretty much decided that it’s good, but not better enough than others machines to where my CZ6, DTVGoldGain and T2 are heading to the Classifieds.
Besides, folks I like are busy working on truly new stuff and hopefully I will be around to see it whenever it emerges.
P.S. This forum is unique. In spite of very tolerant monitors (or maybe because of them) the vast majority of exchanges are civil. Given that we are almost all guys - all that “TStoff” as the krauts would say - we generally keep it within reasonable bounds. Me, I like that.
Meanwhile, Codan (minelab’s Dad) is a publicly traded company - if you’re a true believer - buy the stock.
