talk about lack of quality control if metal detector manufacturers have to let Apple or Android software writers from wherever control their devices..cant see it ever happening.

At modern times we have few keys. Time, price, design and few other useless things. Item is interesting but how good. We see soon.

Remember, the cell phone is likely only the control interface. Just like the Deus, the actual detector and all its function will be in the coil. All the hard work of transmitting, receiving and analyzing are done in a separate device - likely embedded in the coil. Change coil? Buy a new detector - priced Deus coils lately?

This was something we discussed here a few years ago, and I think it was recently brought back up again.

It'll be interesting to see how it does. BTW many newer, mid to high-end cell phones are now water proof and have good displays. The lower end cell phones definitely not water proof and their displays that will be challenging to see in the sunlight.

It's amazing how many devices my cell phone has replaced

They have also independent module.

You could likely run a detector from a $35 Raspberry Pi.

I think that knows the future
some of us will have trouble hanging on / of which I am a part

but the generation get used to tablets, should like
more advantage than inconvenience
especially for the manufacturers
just a box sealed and therefore waterproof detectors cheaply.....
