I've had mine for months and didn't know it came apart like that. I guess I never looked. Who would have thought it would do that? I mean no other detector comes apart like that as far as I know.

Wow I didn't know that either. Nice to know I can just pop the control top off , throw it in my carry on and get on the plane. I figured you just have to take out the one screw but that is so much easier.

Be sure you have the right size screw driver. It's tough to get at and very easy to strip.

Mine bracket holding strong without any screw... but is better to secure it anyway.
