Is this part of a confederate buckle??? Found in context with the shell casing and S.C. Button..

Yes, its an end of a 3 piece design...Theyre reffered to as blockade buckles. Imported from Europe and they often turn up with South Carolina relics.

Not sure what it is I've dug one myself out of a war of 1812 Andrew Jackson camp..

The buckle design of blockade runners are bigger and have belt loop...plus a single loop for the snake to connect the other one...yours has two small loops on inside with no belt loop......I almost want to believe they are cape devices..the one i dug about 30 years ago is like yours.and never fully figured out what they are but they attached to something or was linked to something like a chain on a cape..
