Do you Guys or Girls....think that the Exquinox 800..has the Explorer Warble on 50 tones?...To me it sounds pretty good....to me deep Silver or Wheats jump out....I have been using 5 tones...but think I like the 50 tones WAY better on Silver!!!
The Warble is there..Then check out ID..If it stays around 16...18...Don't dig...If it Goes 16..24...26...30...I would dig.......If deep
I was about to sell it.....I don't think so now!

Tones and ID were the biggest disappointment to me.
500hz is the tops with the 800 , CTX and Etrac do 1200 and start at 75 , much greater tonal variation and descriptiveness. Couple that with the compressed VDI range and I suspect you will find the reason Minelab rates the 800 below the Etrac and CTX in discrimination in their own propanganda

The tone to me is to low on shallow coins..I use a Etrac and have for a long while...But ..I tell you..when the coins are deep on the 800..It has a warble..that sounds great to me!!!

Not even close

CTX always puts a smile on my face. I'm just waiting for rain and cooler temperatures before getting back to digging deep old silver coins that other detectors have missed.

Different strokes. Pick your favorites I am not offended. I just know I have upped my gold rings with the 800 and found more silver in the last three months than maybe ever (8 years!).
It is deeper, I have a really good feel for what's there before I dig and it pinpoints like a laser. I've owned most of the top detectors and like this the best. My CTX and Excals sit home like spinster aunts.

Its interesting a lot of people like a full tones warble on machines but dont like inaccurate ID. the etrac and ctx have less warble because ID is better.

I have used the Etrac so long ..I don’t really look at the screen..my buddies always ask me what number..I say. ?... The 800 is a trip..I think after a while you would not have to look at screen ...... going to mess around with it some more...Those sounds in 50 tones.. just trip me out.

I really like the tones on the Equinox, when running 50 tones. LOTS of intelligence in the audio, in my opinion.

I agree with you, mascard.

Defo 50 tones for myself, mostly because i run zero iron bias, but also because it has more info.
Re: Exquinox 800

The tones of it were deffo wrong for me..almost to the point they are 'dirty', as in it couldn't assign a correct tone on many targets, not necessarily coins where, it too made 'mixed message' sounds!

The more I use my older "X-Terra 505", from 2009 I might add, I can't get over at just how quick it is to assign the correct tone on first pass, put up accurate target numbers and discriminate 'audibly' also on first pass, it's doing all the right things and its 'obsolete technology' (Single Frequency) acc to their blurb from 2017 which I might add, has somewhat disappeared in print!'

Hopefully the good people at Minelab are working on a few tweaks for the Nox. The good news is we don't have to get on some dealers list to get it. Silver tone? Deep iron and just better VDI are higher priority. What was the Whites thing on the XLT? Signagraph? I liked that. 25 year old technology.

"Hope so? I offered to Field Test a new software update if there is one in the works?
But, I doubt my offer to assist will be taken up!"

Nothing sounds like an Explorer on deep silver........not an E/T either. Those are one fine silver machines. Once you got past that learning curve and you actually realized those weak signals were targets you were off to the races.

I just think a shallow quarter should hit louder then it does.

I agree nothing like the warble of early Explorers...heck you could tape the meter face and just know when you had a winner...

I've forced myself to use the 50 tone option on the EQ800 specifically for the deep coin warble, and as far as I'm concerned, it's got it.

I dug a 10" deep seated dime at a pounded site my buddy missed with his Exploder2 and he even commented that they'd been over that spot a million times. We'll it was a nice whispery warble, even the pinpoint was faint, it was a pleasant surprise when lady liberty was unleashed.

I don't feel my Etrac was any better on audio, perhaps TID was more stable.

I wouldn't hold out for "tweaks" except possibly to remedy a real bug.
I expect in a couple of years when the first warranties on the 800 begin to expire Minelab will introduce the EQX 1200 with the same basic technology with multiple software changes that will remedy many of the 800's insufficiencies. It will retail for $1400 and will coincide with the end of production of the Etrac. At the same time they will begin a highly profitable repair business changing batteries in the used Noxs and repairing minor malfunctions with $500 control pods on all the used 800s they force into the market. Very good marketing.

The new 1200 will indeed contain an expanded VDI and will try to regain the tonal quality of the Explorer/Etrac line.

The EQX800 has a terrible lisp but then ,,,,some people think Alice Cooper makes good music as well.

The battery problem theory has already been debunked, it's an easy repair.
