hey ole cal!
instead of takin' this "wonder boy" into a farm field to find stuff that even a $160.00 "compadre" could find,
why don't you go into "cooked" parks and school grounds with it and post the videos,so the rest of us "hanging' on the fence"
can see what this thing can find under those conditions...jury's still out!..ball's in your court!

jmaryt I will leave that up to you.....I hunt relics and if it aint old I don't care about digging it. As for convincing someone to buy an equinox it doesn't matter to me one way or another. Im still waiting on my check from minelab I bet their mailing it today...yeah right.... BTW in the thick iron I like my deus better....Will have the X35 coil this week to try. Keiths new video he made about iron masking hits on the one tone Tesoro problem......

Yeah ! Not even a free hat from them.... I like my Deus better for relics.

I bet every time you look at a Equinox you feel like your cheating on your Tesoro. LOL

I do have one question for you though. If Tesoro is so great WHY are you even considering another machine? There has to be some thing lacking in them or you wouldn't be looking at another brand.... ??????

Nice finds C.D!! I don't mean to hijack your thread but thought I'd throw this out there.

I will say this about Tesoro.

Back in the 80s up to about early 2000 time frame, that's all anybody in this area used that was serious about hunting. You would on occasion, see a hunter with a Whites or Fisher, but 95% of the hunters had Tesoro machines, myself included. We'd go into sites and hunt and re hunt them, hoping for just one more target that was missed. Because of that, we were digging any kind of signal we got...iffy, crappy sounding ones and the whole nine yards. We had sites that were so busted with Tesoro machines that you could hunker down and hunt all day and not find a single target...trash or keeper. We were confident the sites were finished, especially the main areas where we had found stuff previously.

Enter the T2/F75 era. One of those sites was a Civil War camp about 5 minutes from my house. It was the first place I ever took the F75 just because it was close to the house and I felt like we had it cleaned out, so there wasn't a big chance of missing anything but would be a good test to see if the machine had any muscle. I wasn't expecting anything to be honest but I wanted to go play for a few mins. I think the last several times I had been there with my Vaquero I had at the time, I hadn't found a single thing. The first time I go in there with the F75, I dug a canteen spout with the soldier's initials carved in it, a bayonet scabbard, and about 30 dropped 3 ringers, and a few buttons. I couldn't believe it. I had the Vaquero with me to double check signals and didn't get a tick or click on any of those things. I was floored. My buddy that was hunting with me, whom also had a Tejon with 10x12 coil couldn't believe it either. We went back a few days later and I repeated the bullet count and dug a breast plate! By the next weekend, my buddy had an F75. We couldn't hunt those old places fast enough and every one produced MULTIPLE finds....that were oblivious to a Tesoro detector. The field I called Bullet Hill where I do a lot of testing videos at....was originally found by me with a Tesoro Tejon. I bet all totaled together, we might have dug 50-100 bullets out of it with our Tejons. We thought it was pretty much done for...you could go and hunt it hard, and maybe find a couple bullets if you held your mouth right OR tried a bigger coil.

Since we started hunting it with the T2s, F75s, and especially the pulse machines .....I bet we have pulled over a thousand more 3 ringers out of that field. We thought we had it pretty much cleaned out with the Tesoros and we were very wrong. You can go there today with a Tesoro of your choice and I bet you a crisp $100 bill and steak dinner that you wont find one diggable signal, much less a 3 ringer. But I could go behind you with a detector of my choice and find multiple bullets that your machine wont even pop or click over top of. I guarantee it.

This area has had a major revival in people that metal detect and I see more people out and about doing it now than I can really remember. Back when I started, like I said, everybody that was serious about the hobby had a Tesoro. Now days, they are a rarity to see around here.

That is a POWERFUL testimony ……. Tech is advancing and im gonna swing whatever gives the upper hand. Competition is increasing in my area too. I see a lot of the Ole timers reminiscing about the old detectors on here and saying this and that about them. I know a couple Ole timers here and they say the detectors we have today smoke what they had back then.

Not ole timers.

The correct spelling is ol' timers. As in ol' man river or ol' Calabash.

Ole is not a word and Ole' is Spanish. smiling smiley

Re: colonial silver with the Equinox...

Well, if you consider what the dictionary has to say about it, either ole or ole' (olay) is proper.
Ole is recogized as a form meaning "old." And olay, on the other hand, is an exclamation showing approval or conveying congratulations.

to wit:

Definition of 'ole'
Ole is used in written English to represent the word 'old' pronounced in a particular way.
"I started fixin' up ole bicycles fer poor kids."

Advanced English Dictionary. Copyright © HarperCollins Publishers

olé in American
Spanish
interjection, noun
used to express approval, triumph, joy, etc., as at a bullfight or in flamenco dancing (or in this case, celebration of a nice find while metal detecting, or maybe even a point well made or video nicely done).

and then, there's this:

Definition of ole
: old
First Known Use: circa 1832

Definition of olé
: bravo
Origin and Etymology of olé
Spanish
First Known Use: 1922

Gosh, maybe ole Harold's real name is Jarold and he's of Spanish descent.

Uh-Oh!
