Their next all terrain unit needs to be able to do salt water.

Garrett did pave the way for all-terrain detectors with the AT Pro. Competition is a good thing for consumers.

I like the way they 'tease us' when a new product is almost ready to release

And not the way some drag out the procedure for two weeks (CTX) to six months (Nox)

Of course Garrett make us wait to a specified Date as well but it's usually ready to go in fairness and it's always very polished.

What's the latest word on the AT Max? It's gone quiet?

They have new fall promo's coming out Saturday. No new detector news. Although, we never did see what Garrett machine was being tested in that Bill Ladd video.

So, is there much interest in what Garrett are doing then? I really believe they are the ones to watch in the next 9 months!

Remember, Minelab produced their 1st detectors back in 1985 - reasons - the 'existing technology' i.e. Garrett & White's "couldn't handle the extreme soil conditions found in the Australian goldfields", however, that implies that both Garrett & White's were light years ahead of them in regards to an established manufacturing process of tried & tested quality machines that were already in use all around the globe!
I'm still of that opinion but what's holding back these two detector giants is the unavailability of brilliant designers and experienced personnel. If you examine Garrett, they have a very small team. If you look at White's, they appear to have an inexperienced team and therefore cannot reproduce what previous designers did before them.
Garrett's team has not changed so the 'good people' are still there and are currently working on "the next big thing!"

Des........ they are still dragging out the Nox buddy. I mean at this point any company could put a proto type out and take a year to actually get it completed. It took forever to get waterproof phones that all they did was change the jack. It will be interesting to see how the Nox affects other companies wanting to keep up.

Aces will still continue to be made.
AT Max's will run their course.
The GTA still has to be replaced and I believe they are currently working on that and it should be brilliant!

Alright.
Imo, Garrett went on the cheap with At Max.
And how long since At Pro was released when At Max hit the streets? Long time.

Naw, they don’t have anything new in the works. If they do it was started due to At Max being a rice crispies dud. And it will be s long time till such a product hits the streets.

Or wait, maybe not.. They want to get the u it on the street faster, maybe they should call Dilek at Nokta Makro and find out how they are able to produce a unit so fast. Lol

Makro Multi Kruzer and Nox, and Deus seems to have made a lot of potential Garrett buyers look the other way.

The GTA has needed replaced for quite a long time. Garrett screwed themselves by not making the Max multi frequency. They beat Minelab on the release. They have a loyal following. They would have never had the shortage that still exists for the Equinox accessories. They had the net wide open in front of them and kicked the ball wide. The opportunity is still there. The modern excal or cz 21 in a nice tight small box.

Amen to the competition thing. Imagine living in a socialist/communist country where your only detector the Yugo 55000 that was designed 30 years ago and only worked for 15 hours before it broke and their are no parts available. Notice that in Cuba, venezuela and North Korea they don't really design or create new products? Even China does not create products on their own, they just copy everything.

I had the AT Pro for 3 years and loved it. Looked at the AT Max and said, not a significant upgrade. Then I saw the Nox 800 and boom sold the AT Pro and bought the 800. I am sure the 600 and 800 killed a lot of AT Max sales. Kind of a bummer for Garrett, but they are big boys and they will react with a great new detector, not a warmed over AT Pro.
Re: 'Shhhhhhhshhhhh...Garrett very quiet!'

On most of the social media metal detecting group pages, the AT series are king of detecting. Garrett pumps a lot of money and effort into media advertising and product placement...particularly YouTube. They have most of the most folllwed and subscribed to channels in their ball court: Hoover Boys @ 34,770 subscribers, AquaChigger @ 996,370 subscribers, NuggetNoggin @ 683,700 subs, Relic Recoverist @ 30,710 Subs, and newly added She Detector @ 23,000 Subs. Some of their videos have received over 1.5 million views. Think about that. That's a lot of product placement and when people see others being continually successful using said product, it gets their "want juices" flowing. Add in a couple younger females parading around in tank tops and bikinis, and boom. Smart marketing. Garrett is making big money on what they already have.

Surely we MUST expect more from these big US manufacturers

If you do a Google search of top selling metal detectors on Amazon, Garrett products are the vast majority in the top 100. Garrett and bounty hunter cater a lot more to the people that think they would like to get into the hobby that go to amazon.com or wal mart and buy a 3 or 4 hundred dollar detector and use it a couple of times and it sits in the closet. There are multitudes more of them than hard core detectorists. Minelab tried to enter that arena with their go find series but it didn't go over that we'll it seems.

Okay, if true..
At Max and Pro should hold them for the next 7 years.
They shouldn’t be concerned one bit.

I don’t buy for a minute.
Keeping the Nox a secret is hard to do.
Other models too.

And Cabelas selling Noxes is definitely a way to alert more of the general public what’s out there.

I have watched some of the videos of those mentioned above.
I have never bought new or used the Pro or Max.
So the hits I gave them don’t mean squat as far as purchasing goes by me anyways.
Some folks may watch their videos just to see what they find, not what they are using.

Go back and look at Hoover’s Boys video on Nokta Impact.
Why not stick with it - based on their experiences and comments?
Looks like the Impact sure was getting stuff left behind previously.

Here around 6:24 and 17:30 marks.

We will have to agree to disagree on that. Facebook metal detecting groups....especially the Hoover Boys own page...are full of people that don't know what a Nox, CTX, or etc are. They think the AT series are king. If you don't believe me, go join some of the groups and just sit back and watch a while. The majority of them use an AT series detector of some sort and they are dogmatic about them being the best there is and ever has been. When somebody asks for detector recommendations, it can get brutal with some of them.

My personal feelings on it are as follows. Garrett has pumped the most money into marketing via social media. Regular Joes that are wanting a piece of that spotlight, are using Garrett products to try and catch their marketing people's eyes, to become part of their team. She Detector is the most recent to join them and she did a video not long ago telling how it came to be about and why she now uses Garrett products. It's not because she thinks they are the best...it's because they are helping with her channel and she is getting gear as payment and open opportunities for the future, such as meets, hunts, etc. Last yr Nugget Noggin and Aqua Chigger got to go to Alaska gold prospecting for being part of team Garrett. They've also had the opportunity through them to get on a lot of other sites. They also got to go to the UK for some hunts over there through Garrett. The same with the Hoover Boys, and that is why I think you don't see them using any other brand any more. I think when they first started, they were using what they wanted to use. As they got bigger and noticed by marketing people, the offers started coming in. They were testing the water at first to see which company was going to help them out the most. Garrett must have been the answer because for the AT Max, they were featured on the box, in the promos, etc. Now all their "regular" crew people use the AT Max. Brad used the F75 for the longest time, and even he swapped over to the AT Max. Not only those guys, but they also had the guys on TV using their products too. I had people at work coming up to me because of that show, wanting to get a detector like those guys were using on that show and wanted to know where they could get one.

The fact of the matter is...the majority of the people are gullable to marketing schemes and in your face product placement. Marketing people have known this for years and that's why they use sports figures, celebs, etc to endorse their products. Some people have got to have what they see their favorite Pros using. I know you shoot bows...so I will use that as a quick example of this. Mathews is the Garrett equivalent when it comes to pumping money into media marketing. I haven't had TV in some years, but I know several years ago on the hunting shows on the Outdoor and Sportsman channel, that the majority of the shows were sponsored by Mathews. Turn on a hunting show and everybody is shooting one. It made the sheeple want Mathews bows. They pumped a lot of money into advertising. And it has worked brilliantly for them. The majority of bow shooters may not know who the Pro shooters are, because they don't compete. But I guarantee you the majority of hunters will know who the Primos gang are, and who Lee & Tiffany are, etc...and they know what bows they shoot.

It's not about keeping the Nox a secret it's about people that don't care of they upgrade or have the next best thing. There are so many metal detectorists out there that don't go to forums or research new metal detectors wanting to upgrade etc. I went to a local metal detecting club recently just for the fun of it to see what it was all about and I was surprised to see 35 to 40 members. When talking to them, the vast majority weren't thinking about new detectors and we're content with the ones they had. None of them had machines I w ok uld use as my primaries but they liked them and we're content. Lots of AT pros, MXTs, older whites machines, couple of explorers. Not one Deus or equinox or makro were there. Most of there machines looked well used and had them for years. Every one of them I asked if they come to the forums and they said no.lol

If the Garrett Ace 250 were painted black and didn't have that hideous bell tone, it would be taken a lot more seriously. Even with the yellow color and hideous bell tone, it can find most treasures that the more expensive detectors find at a fraction of the cost. If you put the Ace 250 and Fisher F2 detectors in the right hands they can find some really good finds. The location and the person swinging the detector is likely more important than the detector being used when it comes to finding lots of good finds.

There are all kinds of folks.
They think and do as they please.
I wish all the best success with whatever equipment they choose to use.

There are fads with detectors. And this fad not based on how good or bad the detector is when compared to other models.

Manufacturers need to sell product to survive.

I just think if I were going to do you tubes, I sure wouldn’t want to be technically a hippocrit. But some folks can’t remember maybe what they have said previously.
I do pay attention.

Just remember the Ford and GM folks rode a wave for a long time. Up jumped the devils of Nissan and Toyota. There were nonbelievers with these and there still are. But in time some did eventually go to the dark side. Lol
And for good reason.
And these dark side vehicle manufactiers actually I think got the Ford and GM folks back on track to make a better quality longer lasting product.

I think Dilek (Nokta-Makro) has had an effect some manufacturers. Minelab for one.
Minelab seems has gotten there act together better for service and they do have folks who partake on detecting forums.

I can certainly believe what you state above.
I think.Minelab realizes this too. When you consider the wording they used initially to describe Equinox line up.

Ever notice.
Some folks buy a vehicle and keep it and drive till it falls to a zillion pieces. They will even buy parts to repair when it really isn’t economically smart to do.

Some folks trade every 3-5 years.

Some folks still shoot the gun they started with decades ago. They aren’t interested in something newer.

Some folks are actually scared to change detectors fearing their finds will suffer.
Some folks after learning their detector, their life styles won’t allow them to learn a new detector fast enough and hunt with decent success.
Some folks can’t afford a new detector.
Some folks are more into getting junior or sis a detector rather than upgrading (spending the extra dough) on themselves. Nothing wrong with this.
Some folks don’t realize their are differences with some models.
Some folks started with White’s back when. Their minds haven’t changed, White’s still the best to them.
White’s repairing older units is very attractive to some folks. It makes them brand/model loyal versus the butane lighter concept.(some detectors fall under moreso).

And then the good ole made in USA or assembled in USA. Some folks don’t believe in foreign detectors.
I wonder where these folks buy their clothes. Lol
I also wonder is their really a metal detector sold in USA that is 100% made in USA? I doubt it. Goes for vehicles too,
