When 'bad-dirt' Tarsacci relic hunting becomes more: discovered...………… then...…………. I'm sure the demand for a smaller coil...will rise.

Hello Tom

For the headphones connector it works for the moment !

No problem !

Tom, any updates on the Tarsacci Field & Beach coil?
Re: ON THE HORIZON = MDT-8000

Aaron..... I'm due for a phone-con with Dimitar. Will advise.
Re: ON THE HORIZON = MDT-8000

Aaron...…. I just talked to Dimitar. He's looking at 'what exact size' coil would be best...…...and...…. also looking at molds. Right now...… 12" round is the target; yet, maybe 11-1/2" or 12-1/4". Somewhere in that range. What specific size will pique the MDT.

Sounds good Tom, I know the beach and field guys are happy to hear that! I could use one at the lake. I do hope Dimatar also takes the requests of the relic hunters seriously. Yesterday alone I had 2 of them requesting a smaller coil. One says 6” and another hunter claims 6x10” would make it a completely different machine!

I thought you mentioned an update to the Detector why add new coils for the old one?
Re: ON THE HORIZON = MDT-8000
March 16, 2020 03:34PM
Dimitar if your watching. You know.I have waited a year for a 12" round DD coil for surf and turf. 12 1/4" would be fine also. My machine needs no update only slightly more coverage. Thanks for listening to us and I have my cash in hand. Haha

I really like the idea of a round coil. I want whatever size gets the best depth/performance on coins/rings.

I'll put an order in for the new coil if it's not overly expensive.
Re: ON THE HORIZON = MDT-8000

GreenMeanie……… there's no updates for the MDT. If anything...…. it'll be a completely new unit.,.,.,.,.,., which may be years away.
There may be small/minute changes to the existing unit...… such as a different plastic for the coil cover......a better battery if/when that may come about (be invented)……. different connectors if/should technology change......etc...………..

OK Thanks.

OH I remember where I got confused it was in the THREAD Testing a new prototype there was mention of a new Tarsacci flagship.

It’s obvious that a lot of you want that bigger coil, that’s what Dimatar is planning to release next. However we’re interested in how many of you are also interested in a smaller coil, and what size?
Re: ON THE HORIZON = MDT-8000

Aaron,
Nah, I'm more of a big coil guy, myself....that 12" round sounds perfect. smiling smiley

Over the decades, I've really tried to like the smaller coils, but my good finds rate usually goes in the toilet whenever I use them.
In my ground, a round coil somewhere in the 11" to 13" seems to work the best.

Then again, I'm usually only hunting for the deepest old silver/gold.
If it were a case of hunting for clad or freshly dropped jewelry in a trashy park, I'm sure I'd feel differently.

(Although, even then....I've never really liked the idea of painting a barn with a toothbrush, LOL.)

mike

Edit - In all fairness to those with an affinity for smaller coils, I'll admit the best condition Barber I ever found was with a 6" CTX coil in horrid trash.
(But that was about the only good/old stuff it ever found for me, aside from a few wheats.)

I've proven to myself that small coils, in particular, have their place. I was also one that swore by DD coils. I now know that concentric coils have their place as well. My point being, and nothing to do with what Mike posted, if one only uses one specific size and type of coil, one truly won't know what another type and size might do. HH jim tn

you dont know what you dont know. BUT typically we know the advantages/disadvantages of various coils when and where they work best for the targets we are looking for. IMO the designed intent of this machine may warrant the NEED for the larger coil. For my hunting we are seeing PI depth...... what would another inch or so do...... not to mention coverage. I can tell you thou...... the thicker shaft of the MDT displaces more water....... so id like that taken into consideration for the coil design and maybe thicker coil ears. A larger coil just for coverage and not depth increase really doesnt interest me. Im also wondering how sensitivity might change..... especially in the salt water and the adjustments needed. Would it be like most..... turn down the sensitivity nullifying the big coils depth advantage.......or can the salt balance compensate for it? So ..... i guess i have to ask this question...... Tom. What’s the real purpose of the larger Tarsacci coil? Is it for more ground coverage, or for greater depth?

Re: ON THE HORIZON = MDT-8000

I wouldn't mind a little more coverage but not at the expense of performance.

More depth on coins/rings would be nice. Less depth would be unacceptable.

A round shape is preferable and having the ears in the center would be a big improvement.

(((Dimitar & I could (almost) care less about: additional ground coverage)))!

So what DO you care about, Tom?
Re: ON THE HORIZON = MDT-8000

The EQX and the Tarsacci.
Re: ON THE HORIZON = MDT-8000

Tom, that’s not exactly what I was asking about.

Well.....like I’ve said before he’s too honest to be a politician, however.....it’d be nice just to get a STRAIGHT answer.confused smiley

Lets look at TomD's past & present favs ; CZ3d for depth, F-75 for depth and separation, EQ for all plus ID, Tarsacci for salt, high minerals and depth....that's what he's excited about...ground coverage, ahh... if it happens to squeak in there, ok.......

One thing mind you, just one thing different between your two interests, that jumps out at me. EQX has optional 6" and 15" DD coils. Hmmm, I wonder why that is?
Re: ON THE HORIZON = MDT-8000

MineLab as you know, has very deep pockets, they can make all the coils they want. Not the case w TARSACCI.
Re: ON THE HORIZON = MDT-8000
March 18, 2020 12:31AM
I would think that minelab has additional coils because they are a huge manufacturer of such and having additional coils available pleases those who want a smaller coil and those who want a larger coil. Problem solved in consumer demands plus more money for Minelab. I don’t know anything about Dimitar but I’m sure his resources aren’t as strong as Minelab.
Re: ON THE HORIZON = MDT-8000

Dimatar is one man....solely responsible for financing the MDT and MineLab is a military contractor, and they do NOT like the MDT.

Think about it...

Carolina, this might help answer the question:

(I think FY19 Summary on page 2 should do it.)

If I were to get a Tarsacci--very possible--I'd need a 6" round or 5"x10" coil. Buying it would be dependent upon such a coil being available.
