I never notch out and I have had iron hits sound great, read deep and some turn out to be axe heads, picks, spades, is it worth it to dig iron? Yes! I have dug fronts to old stoves with the company name on it and they are KEEPERS. Part of hunting is digging and if you come home with a few keepers you are doing great. I love sites that are hit hard but they missed some targets that were mixed in with iron.
