I watch all your videos and find them all very informative, very enjoyable and very entertaining. You do good stuff, for me at least in your videos, and I learn from them even as a 40 year veteran at the hobby. Finding that GW button was and is a find of a life time. But you know and I know that it could have very well turned out to be just another plain flat button. Deus, gold nugget coil, it doesn't matter. It's very possible it could have been found with any one of the multitude of detectors and coils available under any given set of circumstances. What would your reactions have been had you found it with, lets say, a Vaquero. No disrespect intended at all. You're a damn good relic hunter.thumbs down

Both the gw button and Adams were found in 28kh in thick iron. Would another detector have found them? maybe or maybe not. I know from testing detectors that the high freqs can unlock some targets that say a 14 kh vaquero cant. Was this such a target ? Don't know...

Congrats on the GW button, an impossible find on the west coast.

Wonder how the 40kHz would've hit it on the EQ800?

It cracks me up and to be honest, sometimes disturbs me a little to see how worked up people get from watching YouTube videos. It’s not just our hobby of metal detecting but detecting certainly draws more negative comments than other niches. There are few other hobbies with such a perfect storm of negativity. For instance; Let’s pretend for a second that the comments I get on my YouTube channel were applied to a different hobby. For this excersise we’ll pretend it’s for mountain biking.
“That mountain biker is fake! There’s no way he rode that trail”
“I’ve been riding mountain bikes way longer than you. I don’t need a fancy mountain bike to ride those trails.”
“Did you see the way that guy washed his mountain bike? It’s probably not worth anything now.”
“Did you see the tire tracks that guy left behind? When I get done riding, you can’t even tell I’ve been there”
“Good lord! This guy is taking forever to find the trail head. I would have found it much faster than him”
“This guy obviously only mountain bikes so he can get sponsored.”
“How dare someone exploit our great hobby of mountain biking in an attempt to make a living doing something they love”
“Why don’t you do more videos riding someone else’s mountain bike?”
“You’re the reason I can’t mountain bike anymore. People like you brought way to much attention to mountain biking”.
Like I said though. Other hobbies certainly have their typical negative comments but my god, you can’t make a metal detecting video without being ridiculed, insulted, told you’re a fake, told you’re not knowledgeable enough, your plugs aren’t clean enough (they never will be apparently), you’re ruining it for me... etc.... blah blah blah.
I commend those who are brave enough to put themselves out there and who tolerate the onslaught of negativity. I commend those who abide by the rules to the best of their abilities. I commend those who take the time to make videos for others to enjoy (or get mad about).
I think I might make a funny video about this actually?

“Who wants to please anybody.” ??? Sorry to hear about that. I absolutely agree with the principle of treating EVERYONE the way you’d like to be treated. I DO believe in changing diapers... one day, you’ll need yours changed again. What goes around, comes around. Fact.

“Really touchy”?? Let me get this straight? You paint others into a corner and when they say “this isn’t my corner” and they call you out on it, all of the sudden YOU become defensive??? Hmmm wierd.

Sure, I agree with that, but the fact of the matter is that no matter how you do your youtube vids, there's always someone that complains.
Re: I shout at Youtube sometimesangry smiley

I absolutely 100% agree with that. What I’m saying is, there’s constructive criticism and then there just plain criticism. It seems the non-constructive critics are always the ones who’ve never attempted to make a video of their own expressing their views. They’re always the first to pipe up but the last to offer resolution via putting their face, time and effort behind their views.

Kind of like politics that way Doc. T, when you are out of the power position you complain about everything the party who is in power does.
If/when you are elected you face the same challenges that you b*&%#ed at the previous party for not fixing, then you can't fix them either....
Same as it ever was.

Nor is common sense or ANY kind of humor yours.------Tell you what--you are just down the road from me---(when I get back home)--c'mon up to Baker City---I'll take you to a couple of good sites & you can change my diaper & teach me how to use a detector.----You said you would be glad to do that didn't you? (in so many words of course).----I hope this doesn't sound defensive or trying to paint you in a corner.---It's just that I have been trying to learn how to run a detector for 43 years now and it would REALLY be neat to get some lessons from a real live "expert"!winking smiley----------Del

I’ve NEVER claimed to be an expert. I have always offered to share what I know with others. I’m always open to learning more from others. I’m sure you’re a wealth of knowledge after 43 years of detecting. Corrective criticism goes a lot farther than blasting people from the other side of a keyboard. I’d love to hunt with you. I’m in Baker City all the time. It’s beautiful there. Believe it or not, if you needed your diaper changed, I’d help ya. Because that’s the kinda person I am. As a fire medic, we have to address that situation pretty frequently. Nothing new to me. (Not my favorite though).
