Yup, the comments say it all, really.
The WHOLE reason the 2.4GHz ISM (Industrial, Scientific,Medical) band is opened up licence-free for low-power use is BECAUSE water absorbs it so strongly. It's no use for radar, broadcast transmissions, cellphones, military purposes, satellite up/down links etc etc, because the water in the air soaks it all up.

And what that article says about antennas needing to be the length of the detectors shaft is nonsense. The ideal antenna length for 2.4GHz is 31mm. Those Deus "water antennas" are actually a co-axial cable, with a 31mm antenna on each end.

THEN...... you have to find phones that will last out there in the salt water..... most are made for couch potatoes. I suspect to waterproof a pair...... you aint going to get them anymore for $30.
