Equinox Coil question

Anyone know if the Nox coils are equipped with a chip like the CTX coils are?
Excuse my ignorance, new to the machine.

They are, it's a "smart" coil. Unfortunately that means we're unlikely to see 3rd party coils independent of Minelabs authorization, and sharing their "smart chip" technology.

Yes, they have a board full of components, but they seem to be less complex than the CTX, so probably miss out some of its features.
The 'md-hunter' blog/website has many X-rays of the coil and its electronics board.

Sure drives up the cost of coils. Makes that coil cover look more appealing.

I figured it did, seems to be the way they are going these days.
Stops 3rd party coil production and keeps the profits in house.$$$$

Any guess on what the components do? Preamp and digitize the signal?
