A nice day with the Changer 800.

I went to one of my extreme iron patches. The ground was soft. I used the field one program and changed it to the 4x4 setting's, zero disc. , 2 tones and what I found to be critical a threshold hum. I only dug deep targets over 16. Slow smooth swings eliminated the flexing of the shaft. I only had 2 hours and it was one of those days. Working the stock coil from all angles on a possible target revealed a smooth long sound. This was a good target every time. Some were very deep and I wanted to say F it and give up. No I went for it. I dug 9 flat buttons, old skeleton key and a Spanish cob. For one day at least the Changer opened up a tough site. Kudos to it.

Great hunt! You mentioned threshold hum. Is that all you heard? A break in the threshold?

The hum helped recognize choppy audio signals as opposed to good targets. Running in 2 tone with zero disc can be difficult in a busy iron patch. You will also hear the speed of discrimination.

Film at 11? <g>

Nice hunt, George, I'd like to have seen it. Please say more about the "critical" importance of the threshold. How so?

Thx

Wayne

For me it makes hunting iron a more pleasant experience. Good targets really pop at you. Chopped signals are less distracting. I never cared for silent search .

Sounds good George.
Thanks for sharing.

Love the changer unit.

Did you cut the iron vol down ? I run the iron vol at 1 and it lets the good signal scream in above the iron...

Not on this trip.

cut iron volume down to 1 and let the good tone come in at 25 . You have to access advance menu but it works very well...

I'm going to get one of those next year. Seems like one heck of a machine.
