Hey Calabash. Is the threshold on minimum in the test?????
If so thats your problem.

I stand fast in my opinion.

Someone who insults my wife for being ugly or the kids for being stupid,... isn’t going to have me to deal with.
The are going to be glad I’m in the vicinity to call the dogs off.

An entrepreneur with a succefull seafood restaurant will certainly understand quality control.
And the main reason its there, because it isn’t consistent.
He should also understand customer service and the fact that the companie is the first place to gripe your griefs in stead of the virtual mass communication called Youtube.

When my detectors develop a hickup, I don’t make vids about them not doing the dance.
I simply call 911 detector emergency and have UPS deliver it to the mothership.

Detector comparison vids are lame and foolhardy. Detector comparison vids between working units and malfunctioning units are a total waist of time, effort and misplaced anger because it didn’t function out of the box.

Some people like Model T’s, some people like Tesla’s,... they both provide transport.

Was that Tesoro mis-functioning? Didn't appear to be ...beep and dig. Typical of the few that I have swung.

Your opinions on machines, etc. are most welcomed (that's why we come here), but making personal attacks and hoping another forum member chokes because you don't care for his opinion is uncalled for.

Their Quality Control associates must have really been sleeping on the job most of the time for there to be THAT many bad, sub par units to make it out into the field. I swear you can pick 10 at random and have a good chance of most of them being sub par and non proper if you listen to most of the Tesoro fanbase. In fact, I think every Tesoro comparison video ever made, has had people say that about the machine or machines in the video.

The company I work for, has tight quality control goals of 1 bad part per million for quite a while now. Most of the time they achieve this. I remember one fiscal year we had 4 customer returns in a fiscal yr and they went into damage control mode for that. We had to do quality sensitivity training refreshers and even some new courses they came out with as counter measures to that. Our company produces spark plugs, O2 sensors, fuel injectors, and now fuel pumps. This quality standard is not broken up in divisions either...where fuel injector gets 1 bad part per million and O2 sensor does too. It's plant wide as a whole. THAT is a tight tolerance...especially with over 1200 associates, hundreds of machines, and operating at a near 24/7 schedule. Metal detector companies are much smaller and are not producing the volume of machines or components that we do....so it should be a LOT easier for them to control the quality of released products.

bado1,Was the Tesoro Misfunctioning? Didn't appear to be? Are You blind? Obviously if it can't Hit a Quarter on top of the ground something is wrong. You think they would make a detector that could not hit a Quarter? Stupid statement.
Re: 11 reasons why not to buy a TESORO...

Thread seems like a fight recipe....LOL. Regardless of ones possible prejudices against analog metal detectors Tesoro continues to have one of the best Discriminator circuits in existence. Chronic button pushers need not apply to Tesoro. There are other detector models that can unmask as good as the Tesoro, however the Trash to Treasure ratio is tons better with the Tesoro. Tesoro's are easy to use, very durable, and affordable. Tesoro's arent depth monsters. Have i dug deeper coins with my Minelab...yes, but Most coins havent been deeper than 6 inches. Thing is, any company could have a great product and poor management cause it to tank. No hard feeling on my part. I use both digital and analog machines......one has to, to cover all the bases. I have multiple Tesoro units and they are just plain fun to use. Thanks

Sorry if I missed it, but there is no info on whether this is a new machine or not. If it isn’t - all bets are off. It’s easy enough with a Tesoro to open it up and start messing with the trimmers. Not seeing silver is a typical symptom of way too positive GB. Did it leave Prescott AZ that way - who knows.

I admit I didn’t watch the video. Ole calaboose’s videos make me seasick with he way he waves and wiggles the camera. Life is too short.

Edit note - removed question about seafood.

I like my Tesoros, thumbs up
November 11, 2018 11:48PM
I don't see a reason for this thread, some like the analog Tesoro brand and some don't....I happen to like them for certain uses. They all need a good ground Balance and is harder to do on a Cibola since it is factory set with internal trimmers. That is why every Tesoro that I own has a manual GB adjustment on the outside of the control box. like the out of production Bandido and Pantera. As you can see I like the oldies. I had a newer Vaquero and it was ok but it did not hunt the iron like my oldies. The Jack G. designed instruments were like a '57 Strat.,,the audio is truly descriptive. JMHO

Ol' Harold. Charming, as usual.
I don't remember the quarter scene. The mono-tone of the machine must have put me to sleep. I'll have to watch it again just for that part. SPOILER ALERT!! Even if it's functioning properly, it makes the same sound on a quarter as it does on every other non-ferrous target? Whaaaat!!? Who would have guessed?

The reason for the post was CONTROVERSY. The poster wants attention and will get it by creating a thread to stir up emotions.

Re: 11 reasons why not to buy a TESORO...

Well after reading all the previous posts I kind of hesitate to put in my 2 cents but here goes, I feel that any company that fails to innovate will fade away, I have used many Tesoro models and I can honestly say I have found more gold with them than all of the others I have used, I think there is still a place in the world of detecting for them, they are light and easy to understand how to use and are ideal for a young kid to start learning the hobby. Heck I even like taking one out to putter around with when I'm not scorching the earth trying to find deep silver with my high end equipment. They are fun to play with on a warm evening when you only have a short time to hunt. I hate to see any American company close its doors but when you see what is being developed overseas that is on the cutting edge of this hobby is there really any doubt why Tesoro got passed by. I just hope Whites and Garrett and First Texas can stay in the game. By the way I own an MX Sport and an AT Max and love them both, but I also have an MMK and love it as well. I use what gets me what I want to find, I don't really care what name is written on it. Thats just my humble opinion. I will shut up now.

Maybe someone will rescue Tesoro....buy the company...like First Texas bought Fisher......Like coinspader and others have stated, they hate to see companies go out of business, one can only hope.

Don't remember that one Dan but you're probably right.----That's the one Calaboose should have tested against the Cibola.grinning smiley----Remember the Gold Bug when it first came out & had to have the "silver fix"?----I think Keith was the first one that caught that.

Love him or hate him, I don't see how you can say the Donald has thick skin. Even the littlest things seem to get under his skin.

There's a reason why there's so much clickbait out there...it works.

I almost never watch MD videos, and have never watched any of Calabash's, but I watched part of this one.

Whether for monetary gain or just the ego of the filmmaker, every Youtuber wants as many views as possible.

Upon reflection, I realize that I fed the beast...live and learn.
