It was a good day. The only downside is that the 2 piece was missing the face. Found it 40 ft from where I found the S.C. Button.

At least you got the back. You may go back to that spot at some point, swing the coil at the right angle and dig the front. I've got a bag full of button backs. Man I wish I had the fronts to go with them. It was a good flat button day though.

Nice ones Calabash.
Nothing like having a positive attitude.
You dig another GW button, you better go by a lottery ticket.

Nice, I bet it is lots of fun hunting for relics here in northern New York we have old coins but no C.W. items. In the bottom picture the thing that resembles a pull tab I am thinking is a buckle of some kind but looks small what is it.

Watch out those slaves had bullets..LOL

What makes you think they were slave cabins?

I have the plat map from the early 1800s of the plantation and it shows 8 cabins there. These were major rice producing plantations back in the day and the work force had to have been huge. The amount of hand dug rice canals around there is unbelievable.I think the spot where I found the bullet and button back was a guard shack for the plantation during the war. Found the S.C. button there and sharps casing too.. I was told that they posted a soldier on the plantations to keep order during the war.

I live outside Savannah and I've done areas with slave cabins that have produced hundreds of flat buttons. Good rule of thumb in the lowcountry is if you have cabins there will be buttons!!!

I know a guy and his buddy who found a spot and dug almost 600 flats off of it. Not one was a military button. One turned out to be a George Washington though. They also dug coins from the 1700s from 13 different countries I believe is what they told me.
