Just under 5 sens was maximum air test on the couple CZ-5's I had. Great fresh water hunters when chest mounted as they weren't locked in salt mode. Digging the faint iron foil bouncers netted me more than a few DEEP mens bands. The 10.5" coil was great for covering high use areas for fresh dropped goodies. eye popping smiley

add: neutral ground here came in around the 6 to 7 o'clock position ( don't remember the actual numbers) but in the water, if memory serves, fully clockwise?

Those were the ones that got me every time, horizontal with the tip of the nail pointing toward the center of the plug. spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

Absolutely true. With accurate pinpointing, if it's on the side of the plug, it's a nail.

A lot of spot-on info on this thread. Somewhere within a few tenths of 5 is usually max depth. Assuming ground conditions and EMI allow, that's the place to run a CZ. It loses significant depth running at the preset mark of 3.

A proper cz is a premier old front yard hunter.thumbs down

No need to dig nails with the CZ. Just make sure you pinpoint the target giving you a high tone. If a nail, the pinpointed target will read as iron. Every single time.

Another trick. You swing over a smallish iron signal. Pinpoint it well. Sweep the coil very fast about five times. 1-2 non ferrous signals when sweeping fast means it's a lower conductive target. Found many Nickels using this method after the CZ initially produced an iron signal.
